You are confusing history. India was under the British for quite a while, it didn't turn Indians into Europeans and Christians. Malta has been occupied by many foreigners, colonialists, imperialists for many centuries including a bunch of alien Muslims from North Africa. The Muslims were just another bunch of invaders.

Alot of this video needs to be corrected. Malta's rich history is marked by its unwavering Christian heritage, which traces back to Saint Paul's arrival in 60 AD. He brought Catholicism to the island, establishing a strong foundation that would endure for centuries. This is mentioned in the Holy Bible in the Book of ACTs in both Acts 27 and 28, and all happened 500 YEARS BEFORE ISLAM EVER EXISTED. Although Malta was later ruled by the Muslim Aghlabid dynasty from 870 to 909 CE, it's important to note that the rulers and administrators who came from North Africa were Muslim, while the native population remained predominantly Christian. In fact, the Maltese people maintained their Christian faith despite being subject to Muslim rule. Later, when the Normans conquered Malta in 1090, they restored Christianity as the dominant religion. The island's Christian roots were further strengthened by the arrival of the Knights of St. John in 1530. One of the most pivotal moments in Malta's history was the Great Siege of 1565, when Christian Knights, led by Grand Master Jean Parisot de Valette, defeated the Muslim Ottoman Empire's forces. The siege lasted from May 18 to September 11, 1565, and was a decisive victory for the Christians. The intercession of Our Lady of Victories, whose feast day is celebrated on September 8, is often credited with aiding the Christians in their triumph over the Muslim Turks. This historic event cemented Malta's reputation as a bastion of Christianity in the Mediterranean.

It's a pity you cannot comprehend and accept the ruling system for about 200 years was Muslim derived and that therefore Malta was Muslim for a significant period. The mere suggestion Islam has had a profound influence on Maltese history and culture seems to irk you into denying these facts. Clearly, Malta remains heavily influenced by Islam to this day as a result of the language, place names and other historical legacies of the Muslims. Try to get over this you Islamophobe.

Are you saying that, although Sicily itself had a Muslim majority by the 11th century, Malta hadn't? Are you out of your mind?

@spikeadam6653 Sicily was conquered by Arab forces from Tunisia in 827 CE, and over the next century, the island became a Muslim stronghold. The Arab conquerors and their slaves, who were predominantly Muslim, established Islam as the ruling religion on the island. While some local Byzantines and other populations converted to Islam, many of these conversions were forced or superficial, with some continuing to practice Christianity in secret. However, the bulk of the local population remained faithful to Catholicism, resisting the pressure to convert. The Muslim population in Sicily during this period consisted mainly of the Arab conquerors and their slaves, who were brought from various parts of the Islamic world. Despite the Arab rule, Sicily's Catholic heritage endured, and the island's Christian roots remained strong. The Arab rule in Sicily lasted until the late 11th century, when Norman conquerors from France, led by Roger I, reestablished Christianity, specifically Catholicism, on the island. So yes, in Sicily, there was a vast Muslim population, but it was mainly the arabs (and there slaves) that conquered the island, and not the bulk of the local population. Some locals did convert and most of them by force or superficially, Whereby they continue to practice their Christian faith, But most of the locals stayed faithful to Catholicism, until they were liberated and Islam in that area was expelled.

@@garyhaber6957 Sorry but most of your words have nothing to do with history or with the truth! First of all, the Muslim army "Aghlabid" wasn't an Arab army rather it was a multi racial one with Arabs, Berbers/Amazigh, African and even Iberian/Muladi elements forming the majority of it. Many of these conversions were forced and superficial, with some continuing to practice Christianity in secret? Citation needed!

@@garyhaber6957 More than half of the population was Muslim at the time of the Norman Conquest. Until the late twelfth century, and probably as late as the 1220s, Muslims formed a majority of the island's population, and even occupied positions in the royal Norman court. But by the mid thirteenth century, Muslims who had not already left or converted to Christianity were expelled, ending roughly four hundred years of Islamic presence in Sicily.

Malta wasn't a "Muslim country for two centuries" just because it was ruled by a Muslim empire. The native population remained majority-Christian. Iraq wasn't "a Christian country" during British rule.

If the system of law and constitution applied stems from Islamic precepts (originating in the two sources of scripture) then it is defined as Muslim rule. Since that was the case for a significant time period Malta was de jure and de facto a Muslim state despite your misgivings.

You should have mentioned that in Maltese the word for "week" and "Friday" is the same word "Ġimgħa". Meaning that our ancestors thought of weeks as "ġimgħat" (Fridays) not "ħdud" (Sundays). Friday being the most important day of the week for Muslims because they gather for Jummah prayer. In fact, in Maltese it's the same word "ġemgħa" (gathering) so you could say "ninġemgħu l-Ġimgħa" (we gather on Friday) Here are some Quranic Arabic words from the first 20 verses of Surah al-Baqara that are practically the same in Maltese: baqara - baqra (cow) ghaleyhum - ghalihom (to them) ghayr - ghajr (other than; except for) nas - nies (people) waswas - weswes (to whisper) riba - reghba (greed) (riba in Arabic translates to imghax in Maltese) yu'minun - jemmnu (they believe) ghayb - ghib (unseen, darkness) nafaq - nefaq (to spend) qulubihim - qalbhom (their hearts) ghadab - ghadab (AR: punishment, MT: angry) anfusahum - nfushom (themselves) maradun - marda (illness) kaddab - giddeb (he lied) fasad - fissed (to corrupt - to spoil) ghalam in Arabic "to know" in Maltese in the 2nd form we say "ghallem" which means to teach (i.e. to make someone know) ashtaraw - xtraw (they bought / in Arabic can mean "swapped" perhaps because people used to barter before) raghad - raghad (thunder) adanihim - widnejhom (their ears) mawt - mewt (death) hataf - hataf (to snatch) samghihim - smieghhom (their hearing) absarihim (their sight) in Maltese we say "bsart" I foresaw or "mur obsor" halaqakum - halaqkom (He created you) qabilkum - qabilkom (before you) BONUS: Razzaq (the provider) - rizq (fortune, abundance) bin Adam (the sons of Adam) - bniedem (human) we also say "bniedma" if female which of course makes no sense in Arabic as-shams wa al qamar - ix-xemx u l-qamar (the sun and moon) yateem - ltiem (orphan) Mawlad - Milied (AR: birth of the prophet, MT: Christmas) at tayn wa az zaytun - it-tin u iz-Zejtun (the fig and the olive - but we say "zebbug" for olive)

No. The word for Friday comes from when the few Muslim occupiers of Malta met on Friday for Friday prayers and to discuss how to extract more money out of the Maltese people. The Muslims met at a place called Baharija, a place where there was a spring. There is a Maltese saying about what happened to the Muslims at Baharija, look it up.

I visited Malta. Malta has two towns named Medina and Rabat. Medina has a mosque. People speak a language semi Arabic. People were earlier Muslims of predominantly Arab origin. On Christian occupation people were forced to change religion, but retained Arabic language.
@Ponto-zv9vf
@Ponto-zv9vf 3 ай бұрын
It isn't Medina, that is Spanish, and yes that came from the Moors of Spain. It is Mdina, different pronunciation. Malti is the Maltese language and it isn't really from Malta, it came from Sicily when Sicily was occupied by foreigners from North Africa. The Maltese people came from Sicily when Sicily was still under Muslim occupation, the Sicilians got rid of the language, but the Sicilian immigrants to Malta kept it. They weren't really Muslim just pretending, that is what people do when occupied by aliens.

Nope, they were Christian from 60ad, when St Paul was shipwrecked there on the way to Rome. One person cannot ‘force’ an entire nation to convert…they chose to. Until the Muslims invaded in 870 converting the people by violence, as they do around the world…until they were liberated by the Normans in 1192 and many renounced Islam in favour of Christianity because, frankly, who in their right minds would choose Islam. Please research your history better.

What? Lmao of course it was. The Aghlabids, a Muslim dynasty from North Africa, conquered Malta in 870 AD. The Muslim rule of Malta lasted for over two centuries until about 1091 AD, when the Norman Count Roger I of Sicily began the process of reconquering the islands. By 1127, the Normans had fully established their control over Malta, ending the Muslim rule.
