I still don't own an Islander, but this is yet another winner from LIW. Marc has made a great reputation for himself and his business, and I think he has great taste. I wouldn't change anything on that dial, and the case shape & size look perfect to me. Of course, there's no question it'll be a well built watch with good support behind it. I'm really partial to NH3x in this price range, although Miyota 9000-series can be a nice choice without hiking the price up too badly. Very, very attractive watch. I might have ordered one myself, but I'm also watching my money lately, after buying an ebike and a new GPU for my PC. It's easy to get carried away in this hobby where anything under $1K is a "cheap" watch. All in good time! We can enjoy what we've already got, and it's fun to plan what you'll buy when your money situation is right for the purchase. It definitely takes the fun out of a purchase if you know it wasn't a responsible decision on your part.

Thanks vonkruel! I did end up buying this one lol. At the end of the day I couldn’t pass up the deal they offered me. I had to ship it back to them at my expense (which I didn’t mind) anyways…..they gave me an offer I couldn’t refuse, as this was a demo watch that other reviewers had handled, but there were literally no signs of wear. Miyota 9000 series movement in this would have been a great choice, agree with you! Thanks for watching m8!

It is amazing! No doubt. That’s why I have two Islanders 👌🏻. Really admire what Marc is doing. The only personal preference-I prefer the etching of the F-14 Tomcat on the back rather than the open case back.

Just bought one of these DAY T in DLC black, you cannot beat Islander for value, you cannot beat getting 100m WR, Saphire front and back, screw down crown and a tried-and-true Auto movement.

@@MirrlyonTime No, I decided to get it on the mesh strap. I'm a shirt and tie guy Monday through Friday. I have a few watches on bracelets already. I wanted this watch to be a "weekender" kind of watch. I also wanted something that would be a strap monster. This one absolutely fits the bill. Great review, by the way. You are spot on about this Chris. Objectively, not much to complain about with this watch, especially in the 200USD range. Subjectively, I am still not sure how I feel about the T day-date complication. Cool, possibly cleaner than the khaki king, but still not convinced I like it. The other thing that would be awesome in my opinion would be if Marc used BGW9 instead of C3 for the lume, since the C3 has that greenish tint in normal light whereas the BGW9 is pure white. Really like the chunky and somewhat unusually cut crown.

Interesting Andrei! I’ve noticed that too about the green lume only recently and didn’t know bgw9 is pure white. I also wondered if luming the entire dial would work well with this one, but not if it tinged the dial green. Thanks Andrei!

In all honesty, I don't like any of the Islander watches. They are bland, dull, and boring with an ugly asymmetrical logo that looks to be a watch - why? Additionally, all without an exception are a homage of other watches, and most of the time, they are overpriced. There are other, better micro-brands out there, that actually design their own watches, and not just do a copy/paste type of design like Long Islander watches.

All field watches have a theme and this watch follows it. I agree other companies do things differently... Boldr, RZE, Bertucci etc., but are basically a round dial with digits, with a different (in some cases block shaped) case. I just purchased an Islander field with a black case and full lume dial... definitely different, but still a round dial with a bunch of numbers. Personally, I think having a day and/or date on a field watch is a no no.
