What do you use if its on the seams?

Hello dear friend. Thanks for the video. I have a sup that got a small hole. The sup is made of EVA. Can you propose the more suitable glue? Thank you.

I wonder if even slight infoation puts bubbles under glued areas? After all the piint of pressing from center to the periphery is fir gettring rid of bubbles.

What if the rails become unbounded from the sides of the deck? I’ve experienced separation around the edges of the rail on really hot days.

*TU on the video! Yep mine was on the side also and I just did this method with about 3 psi seemed sufficient. Just in case it still leaks I have to redo it ... will the heat gun help remove a patch?*
@Islesurfboards2 жыл бұрын
You're welcome, and yes if you heat the patch it will loosen the glue if you need to remove/redo - don't overheat!
@wapperjaw82822 жыл бұрын
@@Islesurfboards Thanks ... yikes ... had to redo ... the directions concerning the glue say to do 3 coats, which I did. Allowed 24 hours to cure and still had a slight leak. The second time after cleaning up the mess did only one coat as you did, and it work so much better! But dang found another even smaller leak in a seam. Think I'll just use something like an Ice Pick to force some glue ... heat up a bit and roll it to get a seal ... etc.

So, you have repaired the sup being inflated, not deflated, right? Is this correct to repair a defalted SUP? My queston may sound silly but the recommendations differ from video to video. And as I am going to repair my SUP for the rirst time, I am puzzled. Thank you.
@Islesurfboards2 жыл бұрын
For repairs on the deck or hull you can deflate fully, for the rail we recommend having the board lightly inflated so you have the shape of the rail to work with during the repair. However you can also deflate fully and repair the rail by laying it flat. If you do have it inflated it needs to be VERY lightly inflated, just enough to fill out the board, but not pressurize it.

Hello, what is the approximate temperature on the heatgun?
@Islesurfboards Жыл бұрын
Not sure exact temperature as there isn't a temperature gauge on our heat gun - the key is just to WARM up the area, not apply very high heat that could melt the materials.

The video references a tube of vinyl glue that comes with the board. I bought one over the summer from Isle and it came with patches but no glue. How can I get some? I tried a glue that I bought locally (tube repair) and it does not seem to be working.
@mattgranger89742 жыл бұрын
Unfortunately I did something by mistake and the board blew out at the seam.

Matt we don't ship the glue any longer because if HazMat requirements. You'll want to purchase a PVC glue, we recommend Clifton's Urethane Adhesive as a good one.

My ISLE SUP has 4 years now and it is starting to open on the edges frequently. I even lost my confidence on it so don't go too far in the sea. Any suggestions?
@clmanoel3 жыл бұрын
By the way, I have always been very careful on not inflating it above 15psi and not leaving it in the sun. The same issue happened with my cousin and sister ISLE SUP. (Model Explorer).
@Islesurfboards2 жыл бұрын
The biggest factor that impacts the lifespan of an inflatable is the storage and use environments. We have seen boards still going strong after 10 years, but it's all related to care, maintenance, usage and environment.

Same thing is happening with my board along the crease created by folding it up. Seems worst in section just behind middle of the board where there appears to be the least material

Can you heat weld the patch opposed to glueing it?
@Islesurfboards2 жыл бұрын
Unfortunately no, you need the PVC glue in order to form a strong enough bond. You can heat weld PVC to PVC but it typically requires you to have access to both sides of the PVC (inside and outside board) which is not possible on a fully assembled inflatable board.
@donpalaisy67962 жыл бұрын
would you use the same process and have the board inflated to add d-rings?
@Islesurfboards2 жыл бұрын
Yes, you can use the same process for adding a d-ring with a PVC base.

Where can I buy the repair kit from
@Islesurfboards Жыл бұрын
You can find them online by searching "SUP repair kit" and can find one that comes with the PVC glue. Our repair kits do not include the glue as it's a hazmat item for shipping purposes.

Hi, would you advise how to remove the patch if it wast applied properly and still leaking? Thank you.
@zefe38863 жыл бұрын
Yes remove the patch.. And reapply with a new patch. The glue probably wasnt applied evenly or not glued properly with air bubbles.
@mattmenzie Жыл бұрын
Lol so your cute little kits include patches, stickers, and a scarifier. But not the glue. And the scarifier is too abrasive. Very nice
@Islesurfboards Жыл бұрын
We used to send the glue but unfortunately HazMat restrictions mean we cannot do so any longer. The glue we recommend is HH-66 vinyl adhesive cement.

Will this work for the seam as well? I have a Peak paddle that I bought on 2018 and it broke. Bought it thinking it was a great one, but broke. I think it can be fixed but I’ve been trying to do so for a year and a half now. Was about to give up until I saw this video. Please help!
