New UFC interim middleweight champion Israel Adesanya expresses his emotions on defeating Kelvin Gastelum at UFC 236, that he needed a fight like this to show he had the ‘heart of a lion.’ Adesanya is going to let others underestimate him and that he isn’t fighting to prove them wrong, but rather to prove himself right. He appreciates Rashad Evans’ compliment saying he is the biggest star in the UFC and describes how he has quickly risen to the top.

Fight fans are so fickle, only in MMA can a fighter come into an organisation with over 100 fights and be considered to not have enough experience or called a ‘hype train’ people said he needed to face tough competition... “we’ll see if he beats Tavares”, he does. “Still needs to prove himself, we’ll see if he gets past Brunson”, he does. “Brunson isn’t high level, I bet he can’t even get past silva”, he does “Silva is past his prime, he didn’t do enough in there. He’ll never get past Gastleum, hype train is gonna get derailed”, almost finished gastleum multiple times and now people are saying he’s an ok fighter but he’ll never get past Whittaker. Regardless if he does or doesn’t can we just appreciate his skills and accomplishments as a fighter, during his time before the UFC and his time in the organisation.

Dannynorw you’ve run up and down this comment section and a few other videos comments saying the same thing. Do you think if you write it enough times, it might end up being right? Lol. How about in 1st round when Kelvin got dropped by overhand right but Izzy didn’t capitalise they way he should’ve? He could’ve taken Kelvin’s soul but hesitated... he ended up sticking to gameplan. Could’ve, should’ve, would’ve... but didn’t! Stop with the hypotheticals and accept the TRUTH! Which is Izzy dropped KG off at the hospital on the way to picking up his belt.

indeed, israels win was impressive.. but honestly I believe kelvin handed the win to him. israel was hurt bad in the 4th round, just covering his face against the fence.. at that point i thought "ok it's over kelvin will blast him out now" and what does kelvin do? attempt a silly takedown that didn't do anything.. that happened twice in that fight, can't remember if both times in the 4th round, but kelvin should've just starched and punched the shit out of him there, israel was just covering his face, was hurt and exhausted. nevertheless props to him for the 5th round

Sasa LJ kelvin acted stupid sometimes, he was duri great ay medium range , when he was picking his shots , dodging punches , it won him the first round , but in the second/third/fourth and fifth he just started overextending INSANELY , it’s almost like he was impatient, and he was getting punished for it badly by israel , and as you said that stupid takedown attempt at the fourth , despite the fact that I thought israel was gonna win , kelvin proved that he’s a better fighter than israel , because even though he had a gigantic size disadvantage he still went in the 5th round winning the fight , whittaker vs israel is gonna be interesting, my money is on whittaker though, he won’t make the same mistakes as kelvin

I have to be honest and admit I am disappointed. Not in Israel, but in my hope/dream that he is the next Anderson or John Jones...But Isreal is what I thought he was, a great fighter with a small chance to actually win the real title...And that small chance is there because of the fight he had tonight and him getting this experience vs Kelvin. If he fought Whittaker tonight, Israel would have been slept...but now he probably will improve his game a lot and his game plan, and his ability to stay safe and realize he is not untouchable, will help him come up with a smart (not cocky) game plan vs the real champ and he has the physical talent and tools to execute the perfect plan and win. I still think he will be a 3-1 under dog....

could b true, but my hope was for Israel to mess him up without barely being touched at the very least. Like J.Jones did to many legends.....but both guys are amazing and extremely tough and he did surprise me with his mental strength and having the balls to all out instead of playing it safe like most current....A real champ will have the balls to go for it no matter what...as of now Isreal does have that and if he does become a champ, well see how he handles It and if he stays as good once everyone knowns all his moves and once every fight the opponent is fighting the fight of their life and for him it will be another title defense and no longer the most important thing ever etc etc.@@suiii685

Israel did good, brought it all the way till the 5th round but still could not sleep Kelvin who had such big disadvantages, height and reach. He almost got dropped and slept himself if he would have never dropped the flashy act and be cautious. He was going to try and come in and finish Kelvin with ease but couldn’t, Kelvin woke him up. I’m NOT an Israel hater but I don’t believe people should think he’s the GOAT yet. He had a hard time with Kelvin, admit it guys. Whittaker and Romeo is going to be a different game as well, I’m scared for Israel but I’m sure he will remain calm and collective through out it and THEN even if he does manages to get through those guys he has to worry about Jones, the fight that will probably be the most anticipated fight of the decade, legit. Jones being in his prime still and Israel just beginning to rise up and if he does beat Romeo and Whittaker with ease I guess we can say he would be in his prime as well. It will definitely be an exciting fight if it ever happens. Israel fans, no ones trying to hate but it’s evident he struggled a bit with Kelvin and let his ego get this best of him. I like Israel but if he walks through Romeo and Whittaker then I will officially be a fan, no doubt and will be looking forward to seeing him taking ‘Peco Jones’ out the game, sitting Jones down and humbling him for the first time, I still think Jones is putting on an act making us believe he’s better. I think if Israel dethrones Jones then it kind of officially marks a new era of fighters. Mostly all the old fighters are out the game, Jones is basically the last almost really. It will mark a new age in UFC and hopefully we will see more and more exciting fights.

hesky time I don’t believe in that philosophy BS, especially the speed/precision over power, etc. It’s who is more sharper with their skills, who’s more collective and who can weather the storm better. Israel got dropped once and he’s lucky Kelvin didn’t catch him flush with any other power left over hands or etc. Kelvin does not even use kicks in his arsenal really, he’s a wrestler/brawler really. Whittaker fought Romeo, both have beast kicks and sick combinations and striking skills. Both have dropped each other relentlessly and got back up to fight to the last one standing. Israel fought someone who is like half that and almost lost to him. Romeo and Whittaker will DEFINITELY be challenges and if you deny it then you’re just not a true fighting analyst and are biased. I clearly gave props to Israel, he’s an amazing fighter but still has a lot to prove, it’s just starting. Just that Romeo and Whittaker are just different fighters than Kelvin. They have a bigger arsenal, and have much to work with to use against Israel and I’m sure he knows that, unlike you who probably claims to be a fan. We will see how the future rolls out. I’m excited to maybe one day see Israel vs Jones, fight of the decade.
@nightfallstudios7193
@nightfallstudios7193 5 жыл бұрын
rus2thes0uL Just like to analyze fighters and give the true facts from both sides, its only right that someone gives props to both side and shows the true facts/challenges within the fight. Like I believe Israel presents a lot but probably needs to work a bit on his wrestling as Whittaker is pretty skilled grappling, besides that it’s Israel’s chin. People don’t know but Israel has been knocked out before, look it up. He has a weak chin if you were to land a clean solid power hit. Kelvin’s punch that dropped him was half ass or half plum meaning he didn’t cock his arm back nor pivot his hips while throwing. Israel can definitely drop Whittaker but he can’t afford to go into a brawling match like he did tonight because Whittaker can take being dropped and won’t sleep. I think he needs to submit Whittaker for the win in my view or just by keeping distance using his reach with his hands and feet/legs. Also using footwork to move away from Whittaker, pretty much a mayweather type strategy or any other defensive fighter like Lomechenko who hit and get out.

@@nightfallstudios7193 why do you people think yoel is some god there's a reason he hasn't got a belt and he's 41. Yoel wouldn't touch Izzy and it's facts that Kelvin is a smarter fighter than Whittaker he moves his head moves his feet and has more power than Whittaker. The was nothing lucky about Izzy win tonight. Izzy reach and IQ will him the belt easily. Robert is to reckless and Izzy will counter that and put him out.
