The IDF says it is shifting the focus of its offensive to southern Gaza on a third day of renewed fighting.
The Israeli military says it is targeting Hamas command centres, weapons storage and naval forces after its ceasefire with Hamas fell apart on Friday.
The US defence secretary said Israel has a right to defend itself, but it has a "moral responsibility" to protect civilians.
Residents of Khan Younis yesterday said the southern city has experienced its heaviest bombardment since the start of the war.
Hundreds of thousands of Palestinians have sought shelter in the area, after being told to flee the north of the territory, which was Israel's main target in the early stages of the war

No it doesn't. There is no mention or description of Israel as a state or nation, it refers to a tribe, nothing more. This is just Biblical archaeologists trying to conflate a religious story with history. They tend to ignore the fact that Merneptah is not mentioned in the Bible - which makes it all very contentious and the stories on the Stele were probably written decades after any events. The first settlement in the West Bank was built in 1967 and by 1980 , there were 79 illegal settlements in the West Bank. The whole idea of building settlements is to minimize the chance of there ever being an Arab State in the West Bank. Israel would have you believe that these settlements are justified to minimize the threat but look at the timeline. The first suicide bombing didn't happen until 1989 , 22 years after the first settlement began. Looks to me like it isn't the threat that caused the settlements but the settlements that caused the threat. It's not a matter of public opinion but a recognition of the timeline.
