Owen then says the treatment of the hospitals in Gaza by Israel is genocidal and a war crime and questions why people are okay calling Russia's illegal bombings of civilisation and hospitals in Ukraine a war crime - but won't apply the same logic to what's happening to Palestinians.

I personally don't think Putin is committing a genocide although he has transferred Ukrainian children to Russia but he hasn't necessarily shown intent to destroy. Likewise in the Israel case, I don't believe we see explicitly intent to destroy, we see many Israeli ministers saying outrageous things but the governments collective policy hasn't stated any explicit intent to destroy. We also have to look closer at what group Israel is targeting (to satisfy the genocide definition) as they aren't targeting the ethnicity: Arab, they aren't targeting the religion: Islam as both groups live discrimination free in Israel as Israeli citizens, they could be said to be targeting the nationality Palestinian (Although one could argue Israeli arabs might also use the term Palestinian, thus it would refer to a specific arab sub-group and since they live free inside Israel, this also would refute the allegation of genocide). There's something that is seldon ever discussed about weapons and nations who either produce or stockpile weapons and that is that munitions have an expiry date. If you don't use them you lose them. This would explain why some countries have random wars. Could it be that Israel allowed October 7th to happen in order to justify the use of munitions that were near or beyond their expiry date. This would explain the amount of munitions used and explain why so many were old dumb bombs. That would be worth looking into.
