Schooling and academic education = air and water to Palestinian People. Yet, since 1920s the Western corporate media depicts Palestinians as ignorant uncivilised angry beasts. For some reason, generations of Western white citizens believed/still believe such a myth. Till 1947, over 1.5 million Palestinians lived in Palestinian cities, towns, and thousands of villages. Palestine wasn’t a land without people. Palestine had Arabic and language schools, theatres, local newspapers, radio stations, banks, factories, clothing and jewellery shops, trading companies, sea ports, Palestinian Passports, Palestinian currency, Palestinian stamps/postage. Palestine had thousands and thousands of endless green fields and acres, orchards, farmers, shepherds. Dehumanising the Palestinians will not erase truth. It’ll make Western imperialists look worse, as too many cats are out of thousands of bags since 7th October.

The point about Conservatives in the UK saying “We don’t want all these immigrants” and then doing everything to make people emigrate their own countries is a spot on point.. However, it is even more malicious. Let’s be honest, the political class of the Conservatives need slaves / cheapest labour possible to work their industries and also knock down the salaries of the normal common perhaps uneducated or poorly educated in the UK.. and therein lies the class conflict and tension. But because the UK is a very polite as well as a highly caste-ed country, there will never be a real conversation or revolution about it. It will just be a case of a polite “would you mind if..”, “yes, that shall make me feel very uncomfortable and I feel it is rather inappropriate..” and then everything just goes on as it would anyway..

To the question of a one-state solution, and the interviewer's seeming insistence that it can't possibly be peaceful; as an American, after the civil war, about half of the white population did not think it would be possible for freed slaves to live peaceably beside the white citizens. It's taken a long time and a lot of punitive laws and civil struggle, but we are continuing to strive towards an equal and peaceful society within our borders. I believe it will be very similar for Palestinians. They deserve to stay in their homeland. It won't be easy, but the truly worthwhile things never are easy to obtain, but worth the struggle, all the same.

I'm not sure Yousef is fully appreciating what Aaron is alluding to either. Aaron is talking about the ultra right wing settlers in Israel being akin to the American KKK but in a scenario where the KKK, and their sympathizers, were around 95% of the population! We know what KKK types did do after emancipation and it was deadly. Now, imagine if more of the American whites had been of that mindset!!! On Aaron's question of how to go about the One Democratic State solution, I think the proces should be modelled on the Irish reconciliation. It's quite an effective model.
@knowledgeispower672611 ай бұрын
It is quite effective. However, I don't think NI/ I is like for like enough with Israel/Palestine. As badly as the Irish were treated, and as deadly as the battle was, by the time of the Peace Agreement I don't think you had the equivalency of complete dehumanisation which is what the vast majority of Israeli's seem to have bought into regarding Palestinians (I'm going by a poll that had 98% of Israeli's not wanting a ceasefire despite thousands of Palestinian children being killed). You also had two states not one.

I follow the podcast "The Fall of Civilizations" and it does seem like the actions of Israel, in the siege and sacking an enemy city, are more like ancient warfare reminding me more of the Assyrian Empire than a modern state that has pretences to call itself democratic.

Too many analogies to the 1940's as well.

One state solution will never work. There is too much hatred
@Badgerbeard11 ай бұрын
Lets reduce the hatred - de-indoctrination and reconciliation perhaps.

@@Badgerbeard Good thoughts but what is going on on ground is heartbreaking. Those people stand at a gate and block aid to hungry people. That is beyond hatred. Palestinians will never have a life with them. 75 years really was way too much for one group to suffer

Aaron please don't reply "wow" to each victim three times in a row when someone tells you about their dead sister and nieces, it really feels less than respectful

My condolences, this has to end. CNN has to go through a IDF censor for whatever coverage from Gaza.

Israel has shown an immense lack of humanity towards the palestinians. Looking at their suffering even from afar is utterly heartbreaking. God bless you for sharing your devastating losses and God bless Palestine.
