Hey guys I've just had an experience and thought I might share to help someone who is considering buying a Harley. I recently bought a Pan American at Barnes Harley. I have had nothing but problems with the bike. From the starter clutch dying, to the screen randomly turning off, to error codes non stop, to the bike leaving me stranded. When I approached Barnes Harley to see if they could help their proposed solution was to get rid of the bike at a loss. It is not their problem they don't make the bike just sell them. Ergo too bad you got stuck with a lemon. Then they pretended that they've never heard of these issues. Meanwhile, I took it to another dealer and was told that these issues are quite common, and some fixes are available but they won't just do a recall you have to prove that the problem exists. After owning a few Harleys this is not what I would expect being a long time customer and all. So please if you are considering buying a Harley Davidson, specifically a Pan America DON'T! Read the forums regarding these issues and google them you will see they are very common and NEVER deal with a dealership like Barnes who not only won't try to assist but flat out tells you too bad now you're stuck with our crap. If anyone wants to see the texts and the issues I have videos and pictures of everything. Learn from my misfortune and feel free to contact me for proof. Don't buy Harley and never deal with Barnes dealers. I know there are some die hard Harley fans heck I was one of them but this is the help I got so far and sadly you'll never know how a company will treat it's loyal customer but just make sure you know what you're getting into. Your hard earned money should be giving you headaches and definitely should piss you off. Just my 2 cents.

Excellent honest review, so sorry you are having to deal with all these issues. No one should have to pay this kind of money and deal with all this mind numbing ridiculous BS.. I did test drive this machine and liked the ride so can understand the attraction, but based in large part on comments like yours I decided to pass and go with a competitor, maybe revisit this consideration a few years from now. Thank you for taking the time to share your experience!! Very helpful, and for sure ... wont be buying my next bike from the dealer mentioned above!!##!

Just leave it on , put a hose clamp around it on the broken side, or both sides and keep riding it until your part comes in, and get a power booster pack for a jump start they need lot of juice to start, so does my KTM 1290. I may try a lithium battery

My fix is to hit start button as soon as you turn power on. The longer you wait for the screen the more hesitation you get. Try that. It worked for me. Fires right up.

I've put around 2500 miles on my Pan Am, switch between 2021 Road Glide and the Dirt Glide. It does use a lot of battery and when the battery drains down it will throw codes. Cold weather below 34 will make it throw codes as well but still runs great. Once the battery back up to full charge and the riding temp gets above 40 codes are gone.

Yep that's the way mine started out and then pretty soon I had to put a new starter in it

I only have 1400 miles. Almost 3 years had it. But since day one had the whirring on start up. Of course Pocono mtn HD is playing dumb. Luckily I have a 2p rgs so not only bike. Love bike when it runs.

Here thinking about Jerry's code issue. From my experience when a computer doesn't get the voltage that it asks for they start sending error codes. I guess a dying battery will give volts that would simulate errors from sensors. I know with these escalators when the Drive doesn't get certain voltage shit throws random errors at me.

After a long period, when we Harley drivers spend our time with posing, cleaning & washing the bike, and getting the fat elephant around the curve and making other people angry & ill cause the noise of our pipes - after all that stress, we now earn: FUN to Ride! Welcome to the Pan Am! Greets from Germany 🇩🇪👋👋👋

So far had: Battery replaced, Engine hardness, Not sure if am saying it right the CVV Sensor replaced which is located over cam cover, also both front Forks replaced, and waiting on my bike to be pick up to have the start switch to be replaced witch is sticking, and reset check engine light and all the bloody codes this bike gives. received bike in June 10, with approx 7k on it. I guess am lucky my heat shield has not broken off lol.

The starting problem is you need a new starter been there done that also new fuel pump and a new clutch all before I have 9000 miles on the bike

What happened to the HD BS about testing their products over hundred of 000s of miles?? Surely the heat shield tab would have broken during such testing? What are the things that make you favour the Roadglide over your LRs?
@DefZen3432 жыл бұрын
prototypes and mass production will always have discrepancies in quality, im pretty sure those headers are out sourced to other companies and their quality might be different from the prototypes tested or different in quality from batch to batch. Every complex machine out there has these type of problems and recalls are usually issued 👀

I’m not surprised that a first year product (especially a ground up) is having issues. They’ll be worked out.

Yea but not for us 21 owners. Yes as each model year has come out. But us 21 owners get we haven't had anyone with issues in our dealership.

I love the way he answers! Do think this is one of your favorite bikes of all time? “Yeah.” Without any hesitation whatsoever and then looks right at the camera, “yeah.” Even after the problems and the back orders and quirks of the bike, it’s a no hesitation “yeah.” One of his favorite bikes ever. It’s the best looking ADV bike IMO. It looks tough. Ready for business. It’s unmistakably a Harley Davidson.

Harley is building things the way Harley has always built things. There’s always something wrong with them. The difference is that it’s a value-based customer culture now not a brand-based customer culture. It used to be guys and buy a Harley simply because it’s a Harley and go fuck the world I’m riding a Harley no matter what. And now it’s like hospital a lot of money on this thing I shouldn’t be having all these weird problems with it. That goes for my 2019 ultra limited with the M8 motor that something itself at least a half a dozen times has leaked fluid from the transmission to the primary drive to the point there’s no gray area left when you’re riding etc.. They best get their act together or just go away. And they’re too expensive and parts to own out of warranty and besides that who wants to be working on something all the time? I do my own 5000 mile services I like being involved with the bike but I don’t want to have to fix it all the time
@SYOTOS863 жыл бұрын
Awesome bike.. yea Harley will surely get all that sorted in time🤜💥🤛

@@rafaelcavalli5837 What is fine to you? that you have little things that take your time off the road so you can spend waiting at the dealership sorry I won't except your comment I had my good share of such crap from a multi billion dollar company selling almost to the point inferior bikes. I've owned 5 HD bikes and all had something wrong this is not expectable when I am paying top dollar. Currently on a 15 Ultra Limited.
