@@MarquisDeSangI understand. Mine was like that out of the box. Sometimes it seems to be sloppy manufacturing and I could work it in. But for the money you spent it needs to work 100%.

I just got one during the Days of Play sale. My controllers are recognized and work fine on the PS home menu. But it doesn't register the buttons on my left controller during a game although the motion controls work. I discovered two things that make me believe it's a software issue and not hardware. One is that while playing a game I can hold the PS button for a few seconds to turn the controller off and then turn it back on. Now when I press the PS button during a game it behaves as of I'm pressing the L2 button (you can see the hand grip and release). Another thing I found is that by playing around in the accessibility settings on the console you can swap button controls on the VR controllers. I swapped L2 for L1 and R2 for R1 then returned to the PS home menu. Now I should be able to use L2/R2 to swap between the Game and Media tabs (instead of L1/R1) but it only works for R2. I still have to use L1 on the left controller so it doesn't even recognize that I changed the accessibility controls!

Hello Aceospades 👋 Thank you for sharing your experience! It baffles me that a year after launch that this is still a problem. Ever since I fixed mine by just staying stubborn and working the controllers in I never had to deal with this issue again. We never got an answer from Sony either why this is happening. Who knows maybe it is sometimes a hardware and sometimes a software issue too. I tried everything back then with resetting the controllers and re-pairing them but nothing worked. I hope you can get your controllers fixed soon. Because once everything works correctly, VR2 is such a beautiful system to play with. Thank you again for your detailed report 🙂

I have the same issue. I have to disconnect the left controller, then take a pin and reset it. I have to do this every game. I'm going to try his solution of booting with a controller, then switches to the vr ones.

Hello! This somehow did turn out to be a hardware issue which Sony never officially addressed. I got mine fixed by just being persistent with the buttons. But if yours refuses to work correctly even after a week I would definitely contact Sony and ask them for a replacement set.

Having a similar issue, everything works great outside of the game. But each game has a different problem. - Legendary tales, my L2 doesn’t work at all. Despite resets. - Crossfire Sierra, my entire left hand doesn’t work until I reset it. Then it works fine. - RE4 neither hand works until both are reset then it seems fine. Every game is “roll the dice and see what problem you get” for me. Sony dropped the ball horribly on this

Hello Shaobonk 👋 I’m sorry you are having this issue too. And it’s weird how this defect shows up in games. Mine was similar to yours too which makes you believe it’s a software problem. But it’s the hardware problem. I hope you can get it quickly exchanged. It’s a great system that didn’t deserve such low quality control.

Hi! Yes it doesn't make sense why these controllers are not sold separately. Even for people who break them or accidentally throw them, there needs to be a way to get new controllers without having to go through support.

Just got mine. I can't grab with my left. L2 L1 and The triangle and square don't really work on game Works fine on Home Screen. You know anything about it?

Hello Alex! that's the first time I hear about L1 and L2 being problematic. Usually it's the round buttons. I am sorry you are having issues. For many it is a hardware issue, the quality control on those controllers is questionable to say the least and button presses are not always correctly registered. Try pressing all the buttons over and over again for some time. I could fix mine just by "wearing them in" but if it doesn't work you need to claim warranty and get yourself new fully functioning controllers. Such a great system, but the controllers can come out faulty when being manufactured. I hope you can get a speedy fix and get into the games ASAP.

The only thing that works for me is to hold the ps button til the non responsive controller turns off. Then enter back into game with another controller (I use my right vr controller since I’m having issues with the left) then turn it back on in game.

Hi Charles, thank you for sharing your experience. I had the same issue, only worked when turning the sense controllers on when in game. I hope it will fix itself like my controllers did. Lots of No man sky did it for my problem 🤷‍♂️

Hi Big D! I'm sorry this happened to you too. They need to give you a replacement. Quality control for these controllers seem to be really low. Once you got a working pair it will be a lot of fun though, so the present will be great after all 😎

Hi Terrence, I’m sorry you are having the same issue 😞 it’s such a fun system but only if it works 100%. Keep trying but if the problem persists get a replacement. We all earned a fully working VR2 system for our money.

Hi evil king! 👋 thank you for reporting. It’s unbelievable that this issue still persists after so many months of production. I hope you can get it to work. I suspect that sometimes little plastic nubs from imprecise production are hindering the buttons to be registered correctly. That’s why my work-in method worked for me. Took around a week. If the problem persists let Sony know and exchange it. You deserve a 100% working VR2.

Got mine yesterday, everything works fine in the menu, but it’s bricked in game, left trigger partially works, stick and buttons don’t. This isn’t an early set. Trying everything I can but not able to fix so far

Hello Dave, thank you for your feedback. I can’t believe that this is still a problem. It sucked being a day one problem but after such a long production cycle, problems should be ironed out by now. I hope you can get it to work, I got mine working as I said in my video, by just using it over and over again. But if you keep having this issue you should contact support and get new controllers. It’s a great system, once everything works right.

same issue, but the VR 2 Sense Controller buttons looks working perfect out of the games, all the buttons response to the clicks, but when I start to play the right controller don't respond to anything. Any game I downloaded, demo or the 3 I bought to test doesn't work. And the VR2 bundle is new new new. :( I have seen support of gamers but not from Sony.

Hi Allen! I'm sorry you are having issues as well. Try what I did in my video, start the game with your regular dual sense and then turn on the VR2 controllers. Play with that for a while and eventually the controller will hopefully get worked in by playing (mine was some mechanical issue). If this doesn't work for you, try to contact Sony so they can send you a new pair of controllers.

This worked immediately for Horizon but not Pavlov, but still thanks for the video. I guess I'll be one of the "unlucky ones" that will have to send it back. Pretty dissapointing out-of-box failure by Sony and the issue has been known for a while now

Its not a hardware issue… im having separate issues with 4 different games. x button, or R2, no response or like in no mans sky over active response from r2 with no actual depression of the button… I waited a long time with pre order for a complete working system, and the controller update didn’t change a single thing.

Hi Jason, cases might be different. Mine started to work as described in my video. There might be multiple problems going on and Sony is letting all of us in the dark. I hope a general fix will finally arrive soon that everyone can enjoy their VR2.

Been having somewhat of the same issue. I load Pavlov and have to hard reset my left controller in game to get it to work. But when I load village or RE4 vr doesn’t work at all. I will try this out and see if it works or not

Hello foxhound 👋 I can’t believe this is still a problem. So frustrating. At first I thought it was a software problem too but it seems to be bad quality control when they are making the controllers. Just try to keep using the controllers and press all the buttons. Mine don’t cause problems at all anymore by just doing that for a week. I just didn’t want to go through the hassle returning it. Nice home theatre setup. I'm just planning to build similar one. Maybe not based on TX-RZ50 but TX-NR7100. For me PSVR2 controllers issue was connected to left trigger button, registered slight press even at idle. Fix was compressed air can sprayed over trigger edges while flicking it simultaneously.

Hello 👋 it might also be a controller issue. I had that problem with horizon vr. Try pushing all the buttons to work them in which helped me. I’m the meantime try starting the game with the vr controllers turned off and when the game boots then turn the controllers on. If the problem persists you need to contact Sony support and send you new controllers. I’m sorry you are having issues.

My left Sense Controller, while playing Pavlov (can’t tell for sure about other games since I don’t have any, other than GT7), seems to be acting funny. At certain moments it just won’t track where my hand is, or i will simply see my hand floating in game in the same spot for a certain amount of time. I always play in a correctly illuminated environment, they are always charged after every session, i have tried to unpair and re-pair them, but the issue is still there. Doesn’t happen every time, but it still bothers me, firstly because in a shooter game it’s pretty important to have my hands correctly tracked at all times, but also because it’s not what i paid 600€ for…

Hi edomanurevolution, the loss of tracking can happen if your batteries are running low. The sense controllers enter a low power state and then tracking becomes less precise. Check your charge when this floating happens if that is the problem. I’ve played Pavlov and didn’t really have problems like this but I also didn’t play for hours. A fun game. The tracking should work though since that’s one of the big things that make this headset so great. If you keep having issues you should think about contacting support. We all paid for a fully working VR experience.

I was playing Resident Evil Village recently and it seemed like my inputs were taking like a really long time to be received on my right controller specifically but it didn't happen consistently it would just be random so maybe connection issue?

Hi LeroyJenkins781 👋 thank you for your feedback. I believe that in some cases the controllers are just not well made with the buttons not fully engaging. Might be plastic left overs from the moulding process, at least for some of the issues that are still happening - even with new units. It's also curious that Sony still doesn't sell the controllers separately. Hopefully VR2 will get another push, become more popular and issues like that will become a thing of the past with more spotlight on the system.

The issue I have is that I find that "snap motion" in games like RE Village is not always responsive. You have to push in the perfect angle for it to register.

my issue is my right sense controller does register r2 or r3 in horizon, pavlov (the tortorial when it asks to hit r3 to bring up shop), and in no mans sky when picking save file r2 doesnt work. Sony said they are aware and working on software update

My left controller has to be turned on in game, for Horizon. Nothing works for No Man's Sky, Pistol Whip works fine... Pistol Whip doesn't require the buttons to Sense being touched, without being pushed, though...

Hi Larry, yes pistol whip was my to go to game too while this issue occurred for me on the right controller instead. Keep playing games that work and maybe you can get lucky like me where the controllers start function correctly. I keep my fingers crossed. This issue ruins the VR fun. Until then try the method we’re you keep the sense completely off and turn them on once a game is running (like horizon).

I watched a bunch of videos yesterday after trying multiple times to set up call of the mountain and village. I reset both controls and still nothing. I got on the phone with Sony today and I sending them back to them to get this resolved. The controller don’t respond playing those two games. It’s going to be about 5 weeks till I get them back. My controllers looked and felt fine too but after using them for a week it finally started to work on every game. I’d just keep trying and clicking all the buttons for a while but if it all fails I’d contact the place you bought it from and exchange it.

Hi P.Bateman, oh no that sucks. Has it always had drift? Sometimes drift can be fixed by blowing air between the stick and the housing. If it persists I’d definitely exchange it under warranty. I heard from other vr2 owners that Sony support finally accepts just controller exchanges. Before you had to send your whole headset in.
