First of all those need to be primered regardless of the instructions , second, they are made for pumping fluids that are pretty much level , but you can always siphon fluid from the highest to lowest point no matter what the depth of the fluid is, longer hose required but very effective and quicker than what we would think , Anyway my point is that I enjoyed your channel so far and I wish you both the best in your future endeavors and may you live long enough to enjoy it before you get my age ! Going back to the well drilling video, what old memories that had for us. We had some land in Western North Carolina and decided to build a summer cabin on it. Giving away our ages, this was in the mid-seventies. At that time the only inspections were for septic and electric. The well drilling however was state of the art for the time. I remember taking off work so I could be there to watch the process. $10 a foot and only a limited amount in the checking account. I know the feeling watching the drilling and the casing going down. Every 20ft section going down and our checking account with it. At 130' we hit 1 1/2 gallons per minute. We went down another 50' for storage and I had to tell them to stop. Very stressful. It was not really enough but it served our needs for 25 years until we sold it. It is still pumping to this day; we know the owner. Thanks for the videos.

It’s called planning for a rainy day. Being prepared for the worst scenario as well as the best. It’s the problem with so many people today. Hardly anyone plans far enough ahead. I remember coming home from the Marine Corps in 1978 and everyone questioned why I bought property and the first thing I built was a nice shop and storage building. But that building became my business center it was then the stepping point to building a new home and the place Place my wife and 4 children made our life. Looking forward to what may happen is just great planning being ready for that rainy day that might befall anyone. Great content watching the growth of your life and family. 🇺🇸🦅🌏⚓️🇺🇸

Al, if you have any of the PEX from the heating layout left over, you might want to stick a piece down the pipe to the well lines so you can periodically pump it out "just in case" some water finds its way in. The PEX being stiffer than the garden hose would push in easier. Just put it in and leave it so you can hook up the pump when you need to. You just need enough PEX to get the underground end to the "low point" where the water would drain into.

Anytime you have metal or PVC pipe buried underground, as a conduit, it will fill with water over time even if it's sealed...the moisture in the air will condense when it goes thru cycles of warm and cool temps. That is why NEC requires any wire buried below grade in conduit to be rated for wet locations...because the conduit protects it from mechanical damage (as in your pipe in this case, but it is no protection from the moisture....it WILL get wet...

Al, thank you for explaining the reasoning behind installing a drilled well - it makes total sense to me. With reference to where to locate the new (secret) project - I’m a visual learner like you and I plot things out on graph paper because it helps me organize my thinking process.

Why did you not prime the hose. There is no way that little drill pump will pull the water 10/15 feet unless you prime it.

Well stated comments at the end of the video regarding why you "wasted your money" putting in a well! One should ALWAYS have a Plan B. Your forethought has given you options for many contingencies.

I believe you need to have water in that kind of pump (prime it) for it to work. Water flowing through it will cool it, also. I love your channel. Best wishes.

Try using a sump pump , it should work great , and are relatively inexpensive. Never hurts to have one around for emergencies.

I am new to your videos and share your passion for development and self help. A couple of observations watching the videos on well installation(we call them boreholes over here in the UK). we put one in on our property a year ago and faced many of the same challenges as you. We used 40mm(1.5 inch) round stones to bed in water pipes and drains. They support the infill better than sand(also cheaper). I try very hard not to have any pressurised fittings/joins under ground. If you must, put them in an inspection chamber. I also have used frost proof faucets bought in W. Virginia. We get cold winters in Scotland too. Bedding in the base in stones gives a better run off for the faucet when you close the top lever..All in though I am impressed with what you are doing and wish you all the best with it.

Insulate the faucet connections ( steel pipe) before you backfill.

Another great day of accomplishments on the OGP. Thanks for taking us along. You're so right to plan ahead for many different contingencies. I am really looking forward to the actual building going up. So happy to hear you found a stock trailer and it is on the property ready to use when it is time to move the animals. Everyone have a Blessed weekend.

Wells are always the way to go if you're in an area that will allow it. It is smart to put it in now while you are building everything else. While I suspect this property will be in your family forever, you never know where life will lead you. We are living in our fourth "we are never going to move again" home, one of which was a farm. So anticipating a potential future sale is smart. You three are making tremendous strides on the OFG property, remember it was a heavily wooded forest just recently. Thank you so much for sharing your lives with us.

Gooooood Morning Lumnah Acres. Thank you very much for explaining again all the purposes of the tiny house. People don't understand your putting in infrastructure for the whole property. Some think the solar array is over kill also besides the well and spring. Your thinking BIG, HUGH, and their thinking small dinky farm. 500 acres is a big area to develop and work. Your present farm could go in a tiny part of this new adventure and farm. LOL I pray all your hopes and dreams for the future will be accomplished. Amen. G-D Bless. Al you need to take better care of yourself. In this clip, your face is extremely 😳 flushed. More vitiams and rest. 😉 Work smarter, not harder. 😂
