iSta Breeze i500: Ditching the 12v grid tie and trying tied directly to a battery

I wonder if you could only rectify one or two phases to let it spool up further into its power band when wind speeds are low? Voltage may be a bit lower but more rpms would help. I keep wondering if this would help low wind performance on those turbines that have a hard time getting going?

It's occurred to me but I think the best solution for this turbine is going to be a slight larger rotor. I've really not had any serious 30mph days since switching it over...I need a little more wind on it before I can adequately judge what it needs.
