Istanbul is my favourite destination. The food is amazing and the key is to avoid "tourist" restaurants around attractions - just go deeper into the streets and see where you see all their local people sitting and eating, and just order there - you just cant fail! And TUrkish people are amazing hosts. I love their friendly culture, kindness and etiquette

as a Turk, this is a very accurate comment. Especially im so sad for those who come to Turkiye and leave without seeing real baklava. I can say that the baklava of the Güllüoğlu's is the best I have ever eaten. Everyone should eat from it. By the way, let me also point out that Istanbul is just the tip of the iceberg. If you research where local dish come from and go to those provinces, you may lose your mind because the taste of the food is so good.

Welcome and hope you enjoy your trip! I dont know if you're still in the city but as a note, try to avoid that "çiğ köfte" place. It looks really bad. The real çiğ köfte or raw meatball is not allowed for sale for a while now because of health risks since it contains raw meat literally. Though it is legal to serve if they prepare it right there to serve right after preparation unlike the ones that you'll see under the name of çiğ köfte while its nothing but bulgur and lots of sauce and tastes nothing alike. Some kebab restaurants still do the way i describe so if you wanna try it, you should look from there and not the ones that you see on the street named as çiğ köfte stands.

Including the food and beverages, Turkish culture is one of the most influential cultures throughout the world. Cuisine, TV dramas, Turkish music, and all the touristical and historical places in the country are the "soft power" elements of Türkiye. I love how nice all the chefs were. And the food looked amazing. Especially that cheese sandwich concoction from that food truck. It looked so good.😋

I'm from Central Kansas (Salina) and yes, we had homemade Cinnamon Rolls and Chili at School every other Wednesday --- the outside portion (slightly sweet/unsweet) of the roll dipped in the Chili is yummy! Cinnamon spice compliment Chili!
