This is true. It would probably go: "ENTP, very... interesting but too talkative." There would be no explanation. Which would leave entps to say, "You know enjoying someone's conversation is a prerequesite to thinking they are interesting." Isfj armchair therapist: "istp, perhaps you could explain what you mean by 'interesting.'" ISTP responds: "I mean, "interesting" is pretty self explainatory." *unintentionally insulting the intelligence of the isfj and the character of the entp* Esfj: 😱... 😬...💡! "Oh, who wants cupcakes?!"

It's interesting to compare her reasoning for putting ENTJ in the "No" category while leaving the ESTJ in the top tier. I suspect that, for the ISTP, the crucial difference between these two types is that the ESTJ could probably eventually find satisfaction in contributing to the attainment of good results, in accordance with a well thought out set of plans and priorities, whether as a (seeming) equal to or (probably de facto) follower of the ISTP, based on the latter's superior level of adaptability to, and survival competence in, this particular environment. Whereas, the ENTJ will never be satisfied with occupying any position less than that of King of the Entire Freaking Island. In which case, the ISTP would have to devote an unacceptably high amount of time and energy just to keeping free of the ENTJ's incessant efforts to lure her into service as a potentially very useful, and therefore highly prized, cog to be fitted into his imperial machine.

Useless facts about soil which would be useful in a survival situation: 1. Trace amounts of uranium are present in almost all soils , and also in seawater. This may be relevant when you need to develop a power source on your island. 2. There was a time that, for reasons I have yet to fathom, my friends and I were inundated by actors. Some of them were real famous, some a little, some no one knew not even the other actors, but there they were, day in and day out, talking at us. Now, sometimes, one of them would be quite real and okay to deal with, but even those ones would often suddenly turn into a person who wanted to talk about feelings and motivations and ask WHY- lots of why questions- about a mannerism, the tilt of the curtain or what have you. We started saying "What's my motivation?" at each other just to see who would growl or cuss first. One of the worst experiences in my life. Although, it did lead to something I look back on and laugh about. Because, somewhat nearish to that time some police officers showed up to say something threatening , but they kept getting interrupted and it was often by me, complaining about actors. Then, one of them says something like "Hey! How would you like to be handcuffed, hauled down to the station, stripped naked and searched? " And, I stopped, gave him a grin and said, "I don't know, Officer. What's my motivation. Come to think of it, what's yours?" That made him laugh so hard he just gave up and told us to tone it down. Then, "To bel clear, it is everything. Tone everything down."

"It doesn't matter how entertaining I find ENFPs. They're always going to be a 'no.'" Yup. That tracks for an ISTP in a survival situation. 👍 I'm very happy to be ranked "protégé" (ALT-130 for "é") by the ISTP. They're amazing teachers for those who are willing to learn. -- INTP

Wow every thing about this is so accurate. I'm an ISTP and I have an ESTP friend. Once a common aquintance who finds her difficult asked me how I can stand being friends with her, and I thought about it and said "If I was stranded on a deserted island with one person, I'd pick her." So yeah, I think I'm good with this "researched" scenario. 👀 As an INFJ (the "guardian"/"advocate") I have survived on my own pretty well. Being that my single mom couldn't afford to help me or didn't know how to. No one else even tried and often came to me for help until I got tired of it in late adulthood. Still, I comfortably pay all my own bills and live peacefully by myself. The people that are in my circle are few but, share my values so their easy to work with, humble, thoughtful, kind and have integrity. I'm set with the crew I have. As long as I could disburse simple routine tasks of weapons, shelter scouting, water distillation, fire makin, and food gathering between us good.

@petersmall1574 Жыл бұрын
What I find most telling about the types in the "No" category is that what they have in common is not their uselessness in the realm of physical survival, those are the leeches, but rather their potential ability to breach the ISTP's psychic boundaries, especially within the limited space of a small island. No matter how much potential use they might be, ENTJs and, in some circumstances, ESFJs, or congenial or entertaining, E*FPs, the "Nos" all fall into that category due to the threat they each pose to the ISTP's often tenuous state of internal equilibrium in socially or emotionally demanding situations. The leeches take advantage of what the ISTP can accomplish with her, abundant and, relatively, replenishable Se and Ni resources. The "Nos", on the other hand, are those most likely to drain the ISTP's more limited and precarious Fe resources. And at least some of the "Nos", whether intentionally or not, could act in ways that eventually trigger the ISTP's shadow functions . . .

The video is scarily accurate, so much it revived my (INTJ) rivalry with ISTPs. The thing with the average ISTP is that they wouldn't be prepared for that kind of situation. An INTJ would be. I watched desert island survival videos for at least 20 years and read multiple books about it, starting with Robinson Crusoe at the age of 7. What would an ISTP do, gather pebbles hoping for the best? Bah In fact i know exactly what would happen. I played don't starve with my ISTP girlfriend. Having researched exactly how everything works, i made a plan of action to get us up to speed as fast as possible. In 10 seconds from starting she'd disappear without a word. By the time i had 2 machines going and was constructing traps she'd come back from god knows where with an inventory full of random materials and no idea of what to do next. After a few hours she was just idling in camp with just enough food for two, somehow surviving on the bare minimum necessities while i rambled about going on hunting expeditions and the need to arm ourselves better. Generally, besides her disappearing regularly without a word, it worked decently. I would tell her what we needed next and she'd do it. In the end i would die far more often getting in trouble by overreaching what i could do, sometimes in the attempt to impress her away from her deadpan idling/disappearing cycle...

ISTJ- I have an ISTP uncle, and he's mechanical engineer. Very skilled in any handy stuff, fixing things. I'm just a new-bee learner to do anything on my own (well i learn mostly everything on Google and KZbin 😂). When comes to maintaining, fixing mechanical stuff in the house, ofc i try to do on my own. But if i try my best but there's a very accident that i can't figure it out in the moment, the ISTP uncle is the one my parents always turn to, so he shares me knowledge about how to debunk that accident, point out what i was wrong and its essential knowledge, and fixing my technical mistake. So i immensely appreciate that. ISTPs have their own way of understanding and doing things, and sometimes they shares needed knowledge to solve problems in face, very dependable people. 👍💯 And this Kristin's video is right. As ISTJ i'm learning needed knowledge on my own and learn through doing, prefer not asking from other people when i can if it's not needed or very crucial 😅

I like all the types, but my preference for one type over another depends entirely on the circumstances... and I'd rather spend the vast majority of my time alone than with any of them, including other INTPs. More Fe-centric types can be taxing. Heavy Fi-, Ni- and Si-users tend to get stuck in their ideas on how things "should be" and ignore the wonder of "could be." Even other NTs often get stuck in their personal passion projects to achieve total global domination, while we INTPs are just trying to get by in a world in which we never quite feel like we belong.
