Great and thorough video, thank you! I suspect that I have diesel mixing with oil and pulled the injectors and sleeves out. However, when I removed the injectors, they had two o-rings and one metal ring that kind of fits on the shaft over the o-ring on the injector, but I don't see that metal ring in any videos or pictures I have come across. There is also only one o-ring groove on the injector, so I'm a bit confused. Perhaps the other (larger) o-ring was someone's own addition, because sometimes they stayed in the sleeves when I pulled out other injectors and sometimes came out with the injectors. But does anyone know what is that metal ring, is it supposed to sit there in the space between the injector and the sleeve? Is it a part of the sleeve? There is only one groove. Between the sleeve and the head there are two o-rings. The injectors were fairly clean and shiny, no discoloration or carbon buildup (except the nozzle) but the sleeves showed some wear between the upper seal and the top edge, so probably fuel indeed had been flowing towards the camshafts mixing with oil. I'm not certain though should the sleeve be replaced entirely in this case or would it be good enough with new o-rings. There are no scratches but it is clearly not as shiny as the opposite side. The electrical connectors/plugs were also broken by the previous mechanic and were held in place with wire and zip ties and the rubber seals were in a pretty bad shape. Does anyone have any tips with those?
@basketcasebuilds57122 жыл бұрын
Hey Heikki, you can purchase new ends for the wiring loom. I will have to research who I got them from and let you know. The injectors only have 1 x o-ring about half way up the injector body. I have never come across a metal ring with an extra o-ring before. I think you may be correct in thinking this is something someone has done on a previous repair to try and help with sealing. You need to purchase genuine Isuzu o-rings as the after market ones will fail. Good luck and thanks for checking out the channel. 👌💯

@@basketcasebuilds5712 Thank you! I tried to include a google drive link for photos here in the comments, but it keeps disappearing. Anyway, the ring is located just above the sleeve on the injector nozzle and there is just enough space for an o-ring, so I guess that's where the extra o-ring was. I was also told that the wear/dullness on one side of the sleeve may be caused because the injectors have not been torqued down in the correct sequence and the sleeve been pulled over to one side in the head towards the oil rail. Could be. I managed to place an order for new sleeves and seals from Dubai.

Thanks for checking out the video, I couldn’t find a tool when I was looking. You can use stilsons on the cap and lock the rail in a vice. But seriously it was just a nut ground down with a grinder. If you don’t have the gear I would see if any engineering shops or mechanical shops might make one and remove and install the end caps. Good luck

Is there a possible if the injector having problem, the diesel and oil can mix up?
@basketcasebuilds57123 жыл бұрын
Possible o-ring failure on injector or top injector sleeve o-ring is letting fuel past. These engines can runaway with diesel in the engine oil and cause damage from excessive engine revs please be careful.

Thank you for this video. A very good lesson for my own experience. I am from Russia and we call this car Bighorn. Many people say that this is a very bad engine and change it to the previous one for this 4JG2 car. Please tell me if you need to disassemble the injector? I heard that there is also a rubber ring inside and when it wears out, the fuel can get into the crankcase with oil. Is this so or is it better not to do it?
@basketcasebuilds57123 жыл бұрын
Hey Thanks for checking out the channel. I have never disassembled an injector. There possibly could be an o-ring in the injector but I never had a problem. Fuel can get into the oil when the top o-ring leaks between the injector sleeve and the cylinder head. Here in Australia there were 2 recalls one for the injector sleeve O-rings and later they changed the injectors out for modified ones in the second recall.👍

Thanks for the info mate. I am about half way through that swamp myself. I am a bit thick but i cant seem to find the link for your supplier. I sourced some on the gold coast but $270 later and half the o rings are wrong.. just wondering if you could push me the link i know it is pretty academic now but did u notice that the o rings that you took off the injector sleeves are a different thickness to the ones u put back on. My kit came with the thinner ones and when i fitted them they sat down inside the groove and would not have sealed much at all. Once again, thanks for the video, much appreciated.
