Did that rear main seal install easily? I've heard that a lot of the non-Isuzu (OEM) seals leak after install. I've also heard that there is a "special" install tool. Getting ready to do this on my 4JG2 3.1. Thanks.

I usually punch a hole in mine, bend them to a C shape and pull them out with a strong pair of needle nose, or I pry them out with a dull screwdriver. Getting the right seal is important. I had a two wheel drive and a four wheel drive, the same year. One was a rimmed seal, the other was not. I'd use some RTV black to lubricate the outside of the seal before I tap it in with a big socket or a piece of pipe the right diameter. I have that transmission in my truck now. I have no leaks, no problems. It think I used a National seal on that one MUA 5. There's more than one type of seal for the MUA 5. It's specific to the tailshaft.

16x10 Aluminum outdated American Racing rims with Summit center caps with an ultra odd size tire, 275/70/R16 Maxxis M/T. 31 3/4 - 32 inches tall, with about 11 1/2 inches of tread hitting the ground and a 13 inch center belly depending on air pressure.

Aamco changed the transmission in my 2000 Isuzu Rodeo, automatic with power and winter drive. Since I got it back, the power and winter buttons stick a Lil bit. And the 4 wheel drive will not engage. I'm taking it back next week, but they told me on the phone the transmission work is not related. I'm baffled. Are they playing me?

Yes they are, if it didn't have that problem before but it has it now. When the R&R guy takes out the transmission, does he not have to remove components related to the differential hub locks, and the wiring harnesses connected to the transfer case and the separate shift computer for Isuzu's automatic? These wiring harnesses and solenoids all need to make a secure connection and loop back to their respective locations within the transmission solenoid packs, as well as the front differential locking vacuum or electronic system for push button 4x4. Most of these components needed to be disturbed in one way or another to replace this transmission. This would be my thorough argument. I am a transmission amateur and I have corrected one Aamco, and one Cottman transmission. Parts put in backwards, WRONG parts from the wrong years, etc.. These builders get in a rush, and it's very easy to overlook something when you do it day in, day out. I've also found numerous problems with R&R guys (Removal and Re installation) and their work. Broken plugs, stripped out exhaust flange bolts, stripped out torque converter to flywheel nuts, vacuum lines disconnected, and on, and on. I hope some of the wording helps you in your argument with making sure their job is warrantied and corrected.

It's still going strong now. I think it's probably the best OEM stock clutch you can get. If I'm not mistaken, it's Japan made. I'll never use another stage anything in a 4WD. I might put one in a race car.
