Man, I grew up in the back "roads" of Oregon County, MO driving a white '91 trooper (2.6/5spd)... this takes me back big time... wonder if that truck isn't sitting somewhere ready to be rescued!

+Ben Alexander I own that truck. It's sitting at my place. Getting ready to take it to San Diego unless you're serious.

+Johnny5ive You think you have the one that I used to have, or are you just talking about the one here in the video?

I have a white '91 that by the looks of it could've come from Missouri (mild rust). I don't get rust here in Arkansas or to the south, it al starts as soon as I hit the Missouri state line.... Salt on roads I assume. ;-)

oh, Southern Cali will be a good place for it to retire :-) Thanks for the offer tho!

1st time owner of a 1986 gas trooper. Watching your videos, my reaction is "my truck can do that?!" I'm hooked. Proud owner. Nicked named Lil Beast.

I love troopers, when I was a kid my dad had a 90 trooper, 2.6 i4, what a machine it was! We've been thinking about buying another one, which engine would you recommend looking for? Thanks in advance johny!
@Johnny5troopers6 жыл бұрын
Nothing wrong with the 2.6 so long as it's in good shape. Lots of them out there that run rough and advertised as "need a tune up" actually have burnt valves or a blown head gasket or both, and/or stuck oil rings and burning/leaking oil... You're not going to find an original motor still running that's in good shape so be sure to find something that's had a new motor.

Johnny5ive which engine is the best for you?
@Johnny5troopers6 жыл бұрын
For me personally the 2.6 because I have tons of spare parts and I'm very familiar with it. The 2.8 V6 is a GM engine and uses GM throttle body injection and is as common as chevy S-10s, any mechanic can work on it, parts are readily available and they are a lot more reliable than the 2.6. You only want to get a 2.8 with a 5 speed though, the GM4L30E that they use with the 2.8 is an absolute abortion... junk... The 2.8 5 speed is the most reliable Trooper ever imported to the US.
