To simplify the gifting parameter, $50 (read somewhere for cs) just like back in banks it was $100 & below. What's more to prove that corruption charges be dropped since its so clear. Restitution will only be an alleviating factor but certainly not to dispel the crime(s) committed. The other charges, as mentioned will be taken into consideration. This being a high profile case involving a sizable amount over an extended tenure must and should be treated with the maximum punishable sentence to warrant a marker - 7yrs.

Since their salary is peg against the highest earners. Their jail sentence should be benchmark against their salary.. base on singapore ave salary.. a minister should serve a sentence benchmark against the ave salary. Assuming he makes 1mil..and the ave singaporean gets 50000. His sentence should be multipled by 20 times

Iswaran does NOT deserve a jail term, even as his own counsel suggested 7 to 8 weeks. Instead he should be fined $35k as in the case of Raeesha Khan of the wayang party. I read report that Vincent Hoong mentioned the case of a chief minister in Malaysia...............to me it only shows how deficient in his thinking as he can't distinguish Iswaran case from that of the cm. Declaration: I do NOT know Iswaran nor communicated separately with him...............I'd included him in my email cc previously when he was still a Minister in line with emailing all other MPs, except those from the wayang party.

@@gha9543 From what I understand Iswaran is being charged under s65 of the PC..........I dun hv the time to peruse the PC on this matter.........however I feel that Vincent Hoong FAILED to distinguish the alleged corruption of a M'sian CM. As I've said & which U can read my response to another commenter, U might like to ponder the PREVENTABLE DEATHS of thousands Plus other -ve consequences PLUS tens if not hundreds of BILLIONs of losses. I'm more than keen on presenting my views to an Independent Commission of Inquiry into our justice system or whatever faults currently in place.

If the sentence is too short, it does not reflect the severity of the crime, a Minister of Singapore, receiving the highest pay in the world, which the government claimed would deter corruption, but in actual fact this case has shown us, this approach obviously does not work! Minister while receiving the most ridiculously high pay is still subjectable to corruption! We have also another Minister that keep talking about him making more in the private sector, does it mean he crave for more money, will he end up being corrupt as well?
