I think the "cosmic experience meal" is one of the two things he eats. The other is an easy, mess free, calorie dense snack because when you are in the groove of things you would rather go without food than interrupt yourself with a meal. And god forbid you get crumbs or sauce on a millennia old document that you need to float with your warp powers because picking it up would make it disintegrate. That or he has found the holy grail of spells that rids himself of the need to eat and sleep.
