I offered free pizzas and lodging to whoever came to my house. A week later, we had several homeless men staying at our place. It was starting to get expensive so instead of ordering pizzas I just gave them money to buy and cook their own food. My wife got real angry at me and told me to stop giving them free money. She argued that giving them free money would just encourage a lot more homeless men to come and would be more expensive in the long run. She argued we should switch back to giving them free pizzas even though it was more expensive because this will slow the people from coming in (as opposed to giving people free money). We feel hopeless about this situation because no matter what we do, more and more people will come and stay at our house and we will soon become bankrupt.

You may want to find out if job referral or job training within your abilities is available, or if you qualify for food and housing assistance, moving the disability related payments to meeting other needs. As a born citizen of Chicago I always wait last minute to file income taxes. I’m single and don’t own any property and have no dependents. Some important points in all this, to all the comments claiming a homeless veteran gets less than a migrant; 1. Veterans (which are citizens) are eligible for SNAP 2. Veterans processed through shelters are getting this debit card too. so the issue is more with overloading in the shelter system, where homeless veterans not getting priority in shelters. That being said, if the migrants weren’t overloading the system, 75% of the people in the comments arguing for veteran priority, would turn around and start advocating for defunding the shelter system and SNAP.

I offered free pizzas and lodging to whoever came to my house. A week later, we had several homeless men staying at our place. It was starting to get expensive so instead of ordering pizzas I just gave them money to buy and cook their own food. My wife got real angry at me and told me to stop giving them free money. She argued that giving them free money would just encourage a lot more homeless men to come and would be more expensive in the long run. She argued we should switch back to giving them free pizzas even though it was more expensive because this will slow the people from coming in (as opposed to giving people free money). We feel hopeless about this situation because no matter what we do, more and more people will come and stay at our house and we will soon become bankrupt.
