That old triumph is actually quite well built. Old triumphs like this one had a 2 piece frame and back in the late 60's early 70's a lot of custom company's made bolt on or bolt and then welded on hardtail sub frames. The reason it looks a bit rats nest is because of the dry sump engine needing a separate oil tank and a fair amount of the wiring was under the tank and in the headlight bucket. I have worked on a few of these when I was working on bikes in high school for my family's business at the time.

I lived in Orlando Metro West and everyone laughed at me because I would pull my Ducati 996 and my GSXR 1000 inside my apartment because I knew they would get stolen. I moved away from the UCF campus because bikes would keep getting stolen and police did nothing about it. I seriously knew a guy who had his stolen and the person lived less than 1 mile away in a different apartment complex. Called the cops like 50 times but they never would go to identify the bike and arrest the guy who stole it. So we had to do it ourselves but the police actually came to my friends apartment because he allegedly hit the thief a couple times.

I’ve noticed that virtually every bike for sale from private sellers almost always needs either a battery and/or tires. Youll have such an easier time with Lowballers and just selling in general if the bike needs nothing. I guess I can kinda understand tires? But the battery thing is inexcusable when motorcycle batteries are like $100 or less at the local auto parts store

A bike like anything else, is worth what someone will give you for it. and that 67 chopper is a perfect example.
@jlrutube13129 ай бұрын
In most cases (admittedly there are a few exceptions) if a motorcycle actually runs but the battery has died, a person is not going to try to sell it as an unrunning bike because if a bike doesn't run no one is going to give much of anything for the bike. Instead, if you know that your bike runs, instead of selling it for 300 dollars you will just replace the battery so you can show the buyer that the bike runs and then you will sell it for 3200 dollars or something. So in most cases, if a person says his bike runs but he cannot start it for you to prove it cause the battery needs replacing.... he is lying. The engine is in bad shape and he doesn't want you to know it. Same goes for a carb clean. However, with the carb clean thing, if the bike starts and runs but doesn't idle it may just need the pilot jet cleaned out.

Middleweight (600cc) gixxer, with 30K miles, almost 20 years old, needs new tires (~$500), dropped multiple times, likely has other issues we don't know about, somehow this is worth $3.5k? What are people smoking down there? Take off 15K miles, replace the fairings and tires, and then maybe that price makes sense. As is, I wouldn't touch it for anything over $1.5k. Not sure how that scored a 6/10. I'm over here in CA selling a super clean and modded out 2015 FZ 07 (48K miles) and nobody will pay over 3K for it.

2:32 That's what I call a 'salvage special'. Bikes of this age are at the bottom of the appreciation curve and in this condition are worth about $500. I guarantee even if it starts and runs, it needs a lot more work than new tires. Tires alone are probably gonna be $600. Suspension and brakes are probably toast if OP keeps lowsiding it. That's another couple grand. Then you need a couple new engine parts. by the time you are done it will cost $3500. I would only pay $3500 for one in nice condition with no more than 30k mi. 7:50 I'm not interested in someone's old drag bike that has been rode hard and put away wet. Plus there is a whole lot of work to do to make it streetable and I'm not really into drag racing. Even if I was, I might pay $6k for this bike. Any bike that has been down and not repaired should be handled with caution. A title check should be done. An extensive inspection should be done by an experienced tech. You should assume any bike that has been wrecked is not roadworthy until proven otherwise.
