I really wanted to write a book fully of fantasy and adventure but I also wanted to make it have lots of LGBT+ representation in it as well. The main character that the story follows is gay and pretty much all the characters are somewhere in the community. I really wanted to do it this way because all the books I read growing up didn't have any representation for people like me and if there was it was usually a side character or mentioned in one sentence so I wanted to make a book where you can read it and see yourself.

1:08:03 I've been doing this for years, and didn't realize it was a healthy coping mechanism. I thought it was weird, or I had something wrong going on in my brain. But hearing this, it all makes sense. I pretend my negative intrusive thoughts are coming from some nondescript character, like the blank, grey-skinned characters used for mass audiences or background characters in animations, while these thoughts are refuted, or I'm defended by more detailed, fleshed out versions of people who are important to me. Often these take form as one of my comfort characters, and it works really well in keeping me from taking these negative thoughts to heart. I've always doubted my self-worth, but hearing it from someone who I look up to, or from a character I've come to relate to, it's amazing how better I feel hearing a fictional man with immense wholesome dad energy tell me I'm doing my best, and that just because I gained a pound or two doesn't mean I'm overweight or need to eat less.
