Yay! Now I get to say I appeared on Popcorn in Bed! I worked on this film as a background performer. At 7:10, you can see me (the Japanese guy) sitting two seats to the left of the architect guy played by Brandon Crane. Brandon played young Ben in the 1990 version that starred Tim Curry as Pennywise. This scene was shot in downtown Toronto at 39 Stewart St in the Bathurst St/Wellington St area on Oct 8th, 2018, which was Thanksgiving Day in Canada. Driving down there from the suburbs took no time since it was really early (we started at 6 am), and since it was a statutory holiday, the city allowed you to park free at any metered spot. We were wrapped at 3 pm, which gave us plenty of time to get home to enjoy dinner with our families. At the time of filming, it was done under the fake name "Largo" so that the general public wouldn't know it was the "IT" sequel. Cassie, you never fail to entertain with all of your jump scares, and while I admit to laughing out loud at them, I won't be disappointed if you take the rest of October off and watch only rom-coms or old black-and-white films.

Facing your fears is what makes them go away. You even mentioned that the sheer amount of scares made them not scare you any more. Growing up in the 80s where I wasn't allowed in the house until the street lights came on, bullies stuffed me into trash cans and lockers, classmates stole my lunch, gloves, watch, and whatever else they could. They would call me racist slurs. And all I had to come home to was being a disappointment to my parents because I didn't know how to do the things they wanted me to do. I got bad grades even though I spent every waking hour studying and doing homework. Even though I did everything I could to make my parents happy, my sister would do things and blame me for them. She was looked upon as the good kid because she never did anything wrong. And my mother never believed that I had bullies because they were perfectly polite when they were around her. So nothing scares me. When you know who you are, nothing gets to you. One night, when I used to go to church, a bunch of us built a bonfire in the desert. Turns out it was a shooting range and there were live rounds strewn about, even underneath our fire. Shots were randomly firing in various directions. Everyone, including the leader of the church was running away. I knew that if it was my time, there would be nothing I could do to avoid my destiny. And if it wasn't my time, a billion bullets could fire in my direction and they would all miss me. I sat on a log in front of the fire. My cup of hot chocolate was shot off the log right next to me. I wondered why, if these people believed they were going to heaven, they were so afraid of dying. I left the church after that. I refused to surround myself with people who had fear in their hearts. This movie helped me understand the power of my fearlessness.
@JamesMBC2 ай бұрын
Thanks for sharing your story. That's a lot of hardship and growth. Mine's kind of analogous, but with girls being the bullies in highschool and with failure and poverty in the past year. Even as a child my parents let me watch all kinds of horror movies (my first one was Hellraiser in VHS) and if I had a nightmare, instead of coddling me, they told me "how fun, you just got to watch a free movie in your mind". It worked: that attitude plus a slew of failures and people abandoning me when they could not benefit from me tought me strength and how to recognize the true nature of people, behind the "caring" facade. Now I fear nothing, except getting complacent and not becoming the best version of myself. I have also found that not only facing your fears truly makes them go away, but also facing physical pain diminishes it and makes it very bearable. The mind is an amazing thing.

@@susanalexander6721that's not really the reason. I'm fine with unhappy endings. Stephen King just generally kind of gives up on books half way through. He's admitted to as much, saying that he often has great ideas for the foundations of stories but has no concept for the full plot. Look at the dark tower series. They started out amazing, and then he stopped writing them for years. And then he came back and churned out a few more in a crazy short time and they went off the rails... then there's the stand (spoiler warning), in which the ending made the rest of the story entirely pointless. The main characters did literally nothing that affected the outcome which would have happened regardless of whether they were there or not. He's just genuinely not good at endings. And I say this as a king fan. Great writer. Terrible at endings.

@@dannykent6190yeah, really, we all dig Greek tragedies. They've been remaking them for thousands of years. The Stand loses steam when they all link up in Colorado and Vegas respectively and then both sides are just there like - "Okay, now what?" There's really no compelling reason for these societies to be at odds. I mean as readers we can see the big picture, but for the characters? Not at all... It is one of the few endings that actually, well... Ends.

Fun fact when bill goes to the shop to buy back his old bicycle, not only is Stephen King the guy who serves him but Christines license plate is above the counter CQB 241 my favourite little detail 😎

If anyone suggests Hereditary to you, just don’t. Ignore it, walk away, don’t even look it up.
