[Spoiler Warning] This story was absolutely terrifying, and one of my favorites of all time. The plot was coherent, the use of the entity wasn’t overdone, and the ending was handled very well. There is hope for a good ending, but there’s also the lingering chance that the creature is not entirely done with. I thought the scene where the protagonist visited the old house again was very well done, with no overt signals of the spirit, but just enough tip-offs to indicate a looming presence, keenly aware of the protagonist’s return. Everything was masterfully written and paced. For the audio, though, you absolutely KILLED this narration, Somnium. The music, sound effects, and your delivery elevated an already spectacular story into something I’d consider a perfect work in the horror genre. The emotion that you are able to pour into these characters is something that can be matched by no other. In my opinion, this might be one of, if not your best narration yet. You have truly outdone yourself. You and the author of this story have created one of the most chilling and amazing stories I’ve ever listened to. Unbelievable work, and the both of you deserve the highest of praise for dedicating your time into a project on a scale such as this.

@@sebastiangreen2364 But the watcher warned the protagonist about the entity attacking Mary and never actually did any harm. He was strangled once by something but it didn't say if it was the watcher or the other being AND it mentioned the watcher making noises resembling that of an elder in his grandma's nursing home when it hid behind the curtain. My guess is it was his grandma or grandpa looking out for him.

Ngl I thought the first two parts were extremely well-written but when the narrator started actually seeing the creature they kind of went ham on the adjectives. There were several sentences where two adjectives with essentially the same meaning were used back-to-back and many of them were used repetitively (take a shot every time he says rancid lol). I found it very distracting, towards the end. Overall it was a good story, but I think the author could use some practice in the power of restraint. Lots of potential though!! And as always the narration and sound design was on point.

In my culture, they say that you shouldn't leave a space where you sleep at night, cuz someone might come and sleep with you. Get a lot of pillows if you have a big bed and sleep alone, and the same goes for the bunk below in this story. When you take off your flip-flops and climb into bed, the point should be facing away from where you sleep. If you turn them towards your bed, it signifies you're inviting the dead to sleep with you. And omg 5 minutes in I'm already scared. And this story is 1 hour 34 minutes. AWESOME!!

I wonder how many of us have these stories from bunk beds. Mine was the bottom bunk. An evil face would appear smiling, it was a man, nobody i recognized, with really gross teeth and black eyes and bright little lights as pupils looking down on me from the bunk above me, with a color changing mist behind it that slowly twisted. Every time, i would cover my head with my blanket, but i could still hear the mist twisting, like wind through a cracked window till i finally fell asleep, it never spoke. It only went on for a week, i think. Its been a long time. I was 6, and I've told my family that it happened ever since it started, but nobody believed me. It's never happened since, Yet I can vividly remember it to this day 30 years later.

The first part scared me, as a mama with a little one who wakes up scared almost every night. He sleeps in my bed now every night the other night I asked "you don't like you bed?" He said "yes, its safe here with mama" The other half is absolutely terrifying, amazing story. AMAZING WORK as usual!!

I watch every single one of your videos, whether it be for listening to it while cleaning, or in the shower, I listen to them all. It’s not just for the story either, but for the sheer setting you can put into my mind with how you read. This ability of yours I have not been able to match with any other channel. It’s amazing how much you can give a story life with your narrations. I love your videos man and you’re so talented with your work, being able to watch your channel grow gives me so much pleasure as other horror fanatics will be able to enjoy this just as much as I and many others do. I’ll always be looking for more to come and I hope your day/night is well!

This is a spectacular story, made even more amazing by your talented narration of it. This story divulges memories of our earliest nightmares, and allows for somewhat of a retribution of our darkest fears, the very ones that use to keep us from falling asleep as children. Beautifully written and beautifully told. I can't count on both hands how many times I got chills while listening to this tale.

I love your versions of creepypastas. I love the classic Myuu soundtracks, but eventually they feel "comfortable." Horror shouldn't make me feel "comfortable." Your ambience really adds to the chills I get when listening. Can you do On a Hill?!?!

I started to listen to it twice now in the middle of the night. Putting a reminder to listen to it tomorrow at day. I have gotten scared too easily the last few days. But will definitely listen. But as usual, you are amazing!!

The acting and directing would need to be top notch. They can't have someone narrating the whole time.

This is it. This is the first creepypasta I've ever read. Since then I've gone through some scarier, some not so much. But this one will always have a special place in my heart as being downright eerie and absolutely terrifying. This story does such a great job of painting a picture in my brain noodle that it sparked a horror obsession that is still going strong 11 years later. Thanks for the amazing narration Somnium. You absolutely KILLED it

WOW. I was genuinely anxious and kind of terrified the whole time during this one. I am a little curious about one thing, though. The MC thought that the Bedfellow and the Smotherer were different beings when he was a kid, but they ARE the same thing after all, right? And I’m not sure why, but... I wonder if this thing was his dead grandfather. Maybe his parents and grandmother told him false stories about how he was a hero while alive, when the wars had actually turned him into a sadistic psychopath. After dying, the tree outside the house, which has some kind of unnatural properties, enabled him to return as that- that THING. I know it’s a flimsy theory, but with how the thing resembled an emaciated old man, the way it specifically desecrated the soldier toy which the MC related to his grandfather, and the fact that even the parents seemed to pick up on something being off with that house after they moved into that one room... I don’t know. But regardless, even though my theory probably holds no water, I think it’s a sign of a good story when after it’s over, it still has the reader/listener/viewer thinking about it. And the narration was creepy AF, that fucking breathing is just... ugh...
@saulgoodman8444 Жыл бұрын
I think your theory is pretty good,but I would like to add my own. On the second or third time the thing came into his room when je was a child he for a second thought of a ghost,which immediately changed the things behaviour instead of just staying on the lower bunk and shaking the bed it started to breathe and poke at the upper bunk. So I think it possible has a kind of mind reading ability that would maybe explain how it knew of the toy soldier and what it meant to the main character.
@megamovieman101 Жыл бұрын
I think you’re right about the mind reading, although the creature seemed surprised when the car started to go off the cliff. Maybe it can only read minds when the MC is sleepy.
@saulgoodman8444 Жыл бұрын
@@megamovieman101 yeah or maybe it couldn't read his mind anymore because he was so far away from his house.the same way it was weaker in the car or so it appeared to be

Two months later, sorry for the poke. In any case, I think there were two different ghosts. One was the malevolent spirit of the elongated room, the one that tried to drag him into the wall, and smother him with the blankets. The other was the spirit of his grandfather, the watcher, the ghost of the old brown chair that was watching over his grandson and keeping him safe from the malevolent spirit. That's why he left when asked to stop, but once he left the smotherer attacked. It's also why the toy soldier was defaced, because what it represented was the guardian spirit of the grandfather.
