I just went to one and they would lie about my experience.. so it's sort of deceiving the companies and I did not want to be a part of that, aside from the low pay and the house they housed me in being filled with cockroaches.

I've an experience of about 6 years as a Full Stack Java Developer, now I got picked in the H1B lottery results announced recently and it was through a consultancy and they're preparing to file for my visa, however I'm told I've to bear the visa application fee amounting to $5000. I'm confident that i have the necessary skills to find a job am i good to go ahead or is something fishy?

You can’t Get a job in USA from outside USA, you need a work permit, so unfortunately US does not accept that. Also if you don’t have US degree it’s also hard to get the job.
