Went and watched like a few of his other interviews. This by far is his most interesting. Thank you.

People think that producers and the movie industry cares about high quality filmmaking but the core thing they care is how much profit they will have.He speaks the truth when he says how important the business part is.Unfortunately this is how the entertainment industry operates.

@VirideSoryuLangley The "man" is talking about restless energy, lack of fulfillment, obsession, and lack of sleep from the jump. Yoga has been used for at least the last 5000 years to address these issues and more. It's not about what I know or tell someone to do. It's got a proven track record. Athletes do yoga. Fighters do yoga.

@@wexwuthor1776Yeah, it's got a proven track record for making yoga instructors rich, and turning people into clueless zealots. But it's not a solution to real life problems, and that's what men want, something that actually fixes the problem.

andrew niccol talked about the difficulties in making movies distributors want to buy.
@PhantomFilmAustralia2 ай бұрын
I fell in love with Andrew Niccol's work since "The Truman Show" and "Gattaca." It would be harder to make those movies now, as studio primary interest in pre-existing IPs have pushed the mid-budget dramas into the "extremely endangered" category. Original screenplays with no preconception is now considered a gamble not worth risking. Nichol's rarely made a film inside of the Hollywood studio scene - relying on independent production companies. It would serve Hollywood and the paying audience far greater for studios to invest in $20 million in 10 original screenplays from a gifted writer such as Nicholl, rather than betting big on a single rehash of a pre-existing blockbuster at a cost of $200 million.

The reality versus "what people envision" is literally night and day. If you lack coin, connections, crews, clout, computer code, control, corporate communities, and opulent opportunities... then you ain't SHEET. :D That's just how it is. Quality of work, legitimate knowledge, and true experience aren't all that relevant. Marketing and "image" are everything. Without it, you're guaranteed to fail. GUARANTEED. No exceptions.
