Why doesn't anyone talk about this while traveling? I travel a lot and there are vast differences in other countries. Unfortunately, I cook a lot when I travel. Heading to the Dominican Republic, I already said very little eating out. I now rent condos or hotels with kitchens. I pack nuts, and protein drinks just in case lol. I would chance it when I was younger but now, over 50, I can not take that chance. You have completely changed my mind with this video even further. lol!

It’s a reality not a secret and many content creators like to show selective parts of travel . I try to show it all and of course you often get negative responses from it. 🤷🏽♀️

Not just the cleanliness. But folks keep talking about how fresh all the fruits and veggies are esp in Mexico and SE Asia.....yeah they are fresh but no one talks about it all being pesticide laden. Have to control those pests or there would be no food for the people. And, yes, what you are talking about is true. I've wondered about all of that too!
@malikahonthemove8 күн бұрын
Sadly I believe it is all full of pesticides and other chemicals! Human behavior has made pests more prolific, stronger and more resistant than back in the day.

Ok so I watched this yesterday but it was on the TV so I had to get on my phone to comment. Good video and I might add that I very rarely eat out here because every time I do I get some kind of symptoms. I’ve been vegan for almost 5 years and since being in Mexico I’ve had to backslide and do vegetarian when I eat out because they don’t differentiate between the two. So sometimes something could be all veggie but cooked in animal grease or something. I just got bubble guts from eating the lettuce garnish from around my fried cauliflower bites so it was either the water they washed it in (that’s assuming they actually washed it) or the pork fat that the cauliflower bites was probably fried in 😂 lol you can’t trust the rice and beans either so for me it’s a hard NO I’m eating what I cook! I’m not a fan of Yucatan cuisine anyways. I’m just sayin’ 🤷🏽♀️

Yep! Probably the washing or lack of. Sorry you have to stray from your dietary lifestyle 😞

There is something to be said for the courage of a drunken service member and our food choices leaving the club. The street vendors in Rota Spain fed many of us and we never questioned their food handling or lack of sanitation. Thirty five years later I still think that was some of the best roasted chicken I've ever eaten.

Hey Malikah, thank you so much for this video. You are wonderful! I wish I had gotten the chance to meet you! ❤️ I’m 68 and keep thinking my immune system might not be as good as it was 30 years ago. I guess I’ll stick to what I’m doing…cooking everything and going to restaurants when I can afford it…Niki took me to a few restaurants that were really nice and I did not get sick so this is probably all in my head…but you just convinced me even more that this street food ain’t for me. I know I’ll be missing out on some great experiences. Maybe I’ll make my way over to the Museo de La Gastronomia Yucatan one day for some authentic Yucatan food. I know they don’t wear gloves there either but at least they have access to some facilities. This is a good step toward eating the food in Merida. I’ll also take your advice to take the Lombrix and give it to God. 🙏

Oh you are speaking my language. Let me see folks with their cats and sometimes small dogs on their counter tops and dining tables licking bowls and cutlery. Let me see you petting that cat and going right back to kneading that dough for your pie crusts. You can bet your sweet buppy my mind is racing as how I am gonna get out of eating that food! Let me see you go to the bathroom and notice I don't hear any water running to wash your hands and you come out to serve me food. Ain't doing it. I'll push the food around on the plate and feign illness.

I love your channel. You approach some amazing topics. I shared with you earlier that we both have a military connection (the USArmy). I know many who have eaten at various vendors and from gut trucks while overseas . Me, while in Korea and Germany, I never ate off the economy. For the various reasons that you mentioned I would eat at The Town House, Enlisted and Officers Club as well as the dining facility before departing Post. I was too scared and too cautious. I would pack snacks and be damned near famished by the time we returned 🤪🤪😂😂😂😂. But, I wasn’t eating. My friends rolled with laughter because I would be starving. Heck, I was tempted to get ice cream at BR in Seoul but held fast to no, no, no.

Aww, I was stationed in Seoul but detached to Daegu for the majority of my stay. They would tell us not to eat the beef in local places because it was known to have tuberculosis but I did very often and thankfully didn’t catch anything !
