I can attest that the endeavor is an awesome watch, have been loving mine since I received it. I was hesitant about getting a titanium watch because I was used to heavier stainless steel watches. I’m SO glad I pulled the trigger. The light weight makes it so wearable all day long. It’s my new summer watch. Also, as a habit, the first thing I do when I get a new watch is apply loctite to every screw when sizing. Takes a few extra minutes but it gives me a piece of mind that they’re not going anywhere

Stainless is softer and so when you tighten them up the threads hold a little tension against each other - very slightly elastic. Titanium is hard an doesn’t give.

Functionaly that is fine to explain what is going on, but that is not why it works that way. Stainless steel has a property called Galling, which means that when steel meets steel, it will start to bond together with friction on a molecular level, which provides more than standard static friction in resistance. It is a type of cold welding basically caused by the crystalline structure of the metal. Stainless steel in particular does this with other metals, and will actually do it with titanium as well. The higher the friction applied, the more likely it is to happen generally. This was a major issue in firearms manufacture when they started to use stainless steel in components under higher friction like the receiver and bolt head. The screws are likely titanium like you said, and titanium will not gall to itself like stainless steel will, unless you are using a very specific alloy of titanium. This is why most of the time if you are going into a titanium component and need a titanium screw into that fixture, if you can fit a steel collar to the fixture that is usually preferred, and if not you need to greatly decrease the margin of error on you screw thread to increase static friction on the screw and fixture, or use a thread locker of some kind. I should say, titanium will gall as well, but it much less likely to do it under static conditions than stainless steel. Again, you have the right idea, but not for the right reason. I worked with metallurgy for a decent amount of time and had to deal with this issue before.

Hey Peter! Glad you like the watch. Super awesome review. Even this yellow with date is sold out too today. Regarding the screw pins, we definitely will include a reminder to tighten the screws when you resize the watch. The factory would usually not tighten it maximum because they want to ensure people can size it when they receive it. The risk the chance of people ruining the screws if they fully tighten it out of factory. Glad you help us field test both the RZE watches in our collection. Good that UltraHex live up to its claim. Like you mention, the whole watch is coated except the caseback because the caseback opener will definitely damage the coating if you ever need to open it. So there is no point applying the coating on the caseback. Enjoy the watch buddy! Take care and stay safe in the lock down in Aussie.

Good that you used Loctite 222 formula which is the correct formulation for tiny fasteners which allows their removal in the future without risk of fracture. Caution your audience that not all Loctite is the same.

My RZE Endeavor (in Yellow) just showed up a couple days ago. Terrific watch and crazy light weight. Absolutely correct about using Loctite. I used it on my adjusting screws but will go back and Loctite all the screws for added security. Titanium is just one of those materials that needs a little help to keep the screws locked in. Not a big deal at all.

Ahh, the same thing just happened to me yesterday with my Sinn U50-T! One of the screw pieces on the bracelet must have fallen out - but the bracelet didn't separate (thankfully) until I was removing the metal bracelet from the watch head to throw a stingray strap on. Anyway, this piece you detailed looks astonishing! My Sinn watches never came with additional loctite... So, needless to say, it's time for me to reach out to Sinn about this - as their US retailers do not offer the included loctite that Sinn generally ships with their watches...

That was very interesting what you said about the titanium bracelet with screw links not holding together as well. Likely why Grand Seiko use pin/sleeves only on their titanium watches rather than the screwed links used on their steel ones 🤔 love the texture on the dial of this watch and it’s overall clarity too…very nice indeed 👍 the date wheel looks a little more orange in color than the dial. Is that the case? Or an optical illusion caused by the date window’s deep surround casting shadows on it or something?

Nice opener lol. A friend on a forum just got one, and it sure looks stellar. Love the color and texture of the dial. Stark black outline of indices, and date window, just wow. Not a size I wear, and a bit pricey for NH35, but price makes sense for the finish and materials. Love that you put the watches through real world living. Congratulations on that beauty!

Well judging by the comments Peter the watch did deserve a review and well done as always...however I have a Doxa diver in sort of a mustardy yellow and it's great and whilst I did like the colour on this dial, 3 things would stop me purchasing this watch....the index at 12(awful in my opinion) the date window(poorly thought out) and titanium.....but it does pop...that's for sure.....Have a great Sunday.

Curious which of the Phoibos Voyager and the RZE Endeavour (both in yellow) you would pick for a summer watch collection (if you could only have one)? Obviously, I know one is Ti and the other stainless steel but as I said just curious. Was a really struggle for me to decide but went with the Phoibos as I heard the newer bracelet on the RZE is a bit of hair nipper but would prefer the RZE colour.

Hiya Pete! The watch looks very special with a lot of wrist presence with that particular colour. I can see why you like it. But to be honest if it's designed in a way the bracelet opens and the watch slips off is a real no-go. Just as easily the watch could completely get lost, unless you fiddle with it and apply loctite to every screw. Wouldn't it be an alternative to use stainless steel screws? Personally ut wouldn’t matter to me to have stainless steel screws in a titanium bracelet if it helps to keep them in place. Cheers mate

Pimpin' Loctite like you're Wranglerstar, haha. I haven't not had an issue with my Reise/RZE Resolute screws backing out. I do all that hardcore stuff WIS do like jogging, doing the dishes and casually microwave things while wearing a watch and the only time I've had an issue was on a Strapcode Hexad bracelet. Make of that what you will.

I got lucky and got one of the no date option. I do have to say thank you immediately when and check the bracelet found 3 screws were slightly lose, I will be buying some loctite as a preventive measure.

I was so extremely close to biting the bullet on the lumed dial. Just still apprehensive on newer brands and not in love with bead blasted finishes, but regretting that a little now! Zelos titanium bracelets have had similar issues. A lot in the forums about checking screws

Happens with my Stainless Zelos watches (Blacktip and HH3) as well. Every once in a while I have to tighten them. I guess it's a thing with screw pin bracelets without loctite in general.

I believe Travis was the co-founder of Boldr watches which started only a year after Zelos. I only own the yellow Endeavour yello no date but the quality is great and communication with Travis is super I asked a question on a weekend by email got response within 5 hours was not expecting a response until Monday.

Sounds like the screws need a touch of thread lock liquid. Once sized, I would remove all of them one at a time, apply the thread lock and refit.

Looks great. The clasp looks like great quality. I’m a fan of titanium as a strong, lightweight material that is also hypoallergenic. The yellow dial looks great, which I’m generally not a fan of. However, what a let down….. what a let down to throw in another poor quality movement into a watch like this. What a shame in my experience and opinion of low end Seiko movements. Like getting a mid tier premium car and opening the bonnet to find a Gemini engine.

If the bracelet is not good enough then isn't a so good product. Even if we aren't talking about, the movement of problems with the case. Is from the competence of the brand, make all the quality tests, so at the end there isen't low quality issues. There are Seikos and Casios, lower price than that, and come out, with exceptional quality, fauless watches So It is possible, it is done by major brands, so RZE have to make their home work, before they want to sell for almost 500$ their products. The video was not convincing, to try or buy one of those, SORRY.👎

Beautiful watch with a bad brand name and ugly logo. Never have I seen a company so consistently nail an aesthetic only to ugly it all up with a logo that resembles the atrocity that was the London Olympics logo for 2012. What happened to their launch name/logo? Did they get sued or something? I guess I should be happy that I'm not spending even more money on watches, right? Great review. Great watch. Unfortunate logo. (opinions are like....)

This watch was a big disappointment. Very small watch, looks like woman’s watch on my hand. I had to return it. In addition, company is using DHL to ship meaning high chances that your watch would get lost but RZE is not taking any responsibility for shipping.

Thats surprising Nick, what is your wrist size? I am used to having 44mm Seiko divers on the wrist and yes I agree this one does in fact wear much smaller than any of them. However, I think that's what makes this desirable (for me anyway) I like its footprint on my 7 inch wrist Sorry to hear it didn't work out for you man Cheers
