This is a circular route up Rowling End onto Causey Pike, Outerside and Barrow, taking in the fantastic views on these summits. The heather is thick and in full bloom all around these hills so makes a stunning route in August.
Due to the weather deteriorating rapidly on the summit of Causey Pike we opted for plan B and avoided the Ridge to Scar Crags and headed down an easy traverse path to reach High Moss and Outerside.
This route does involve a few easy scrambles on Rowling End and Causey Pike, care needed when wet.

Hi Tracey, Just got back from a holiday in the Lakes. Unless we were looking in the wrong places the heather had finished flowering. That sure did look steep, well done for not bottling Rolling End, Causey Pike etc, the views were indeed payback. Your Paramo was carefully chosen to match the heather. For 20 August that sure was cold 🥶. We did a walk from Watendlath, boy did it get boggy. Guessing any other year and it would have been dry. The drive 🚗 from Ashness bridge was fun in the Galaxy, we did meet an elderly driver who didn't want that nasty bracken stuff touching his car, we were nearly off the edge. I'm sure you had lots of off screen encouragement from Director Andy 🤣😂🤣 Cheers Graham

Well, that was really something, in rather 'interesting' weather. Newlands is my favourite valley and I love all its surrounding hills. The top of Causey is an easy scramble in good conditions but like anywhere else can be dangerous in bad weather. Some terrific views though and the heather is lovely. Always feels great when you've overcome challenging conditions.

Stunning views yet again. The heather looks lovely, it's amazing how it grows through the rocks. Causey pike wow it's very windy. WHAT WAS ANDY ON??? The braken is so high. Sisters eh!!! Shame about the weather, it threw everything at you, rain, snow and hail. Glad you can still laugh about it. Thanks for letting us share your adventure. ATB to you all. Crickey Tracey you dont half pick your days 🤣 No one can accuse any of you for being fine weather walkers haha. Ive never done Causey Pike from Rowling End only from doing the Coledale Horseshoe. It does look an interesting little scramble to the summit especially in those conditions! Always a great viewing and info. All the very best 😊

Hi Tracey Andy and Billy Bob. Like the new style vlog typical Cumbrian weather don't get 1 hour the same. We used to do them a few year ago with our black Labrador Ben. Can't now as I'm partialy disabled and need cannisters oxygen with me every where I go and also have a four wheeler walker to assist me. I got pneumonia Xmas 2021 and was in hospital till end of February spent nearly 4 weeks in a coma on a ventilator. Causy Pike a cracking summit, 😊❤bloody hell.it was blowing a gale 😂😮 bet it was a tad uncomfortable on that rain/sleet etc!!!!!
