The real protip imo is that you cant just mix the protein powder in as part of the dry ingredients - you HAVE to dissolve it into the liquids first, whisk it ferociously until well combined, and you will get a much less grainy final product.

Ok, I just tried this and had two pieces hot out of the oven. I made one adjustment to the recipe because I only had two bananas and they still came out fine. Also based on other comments I added a little salt and about 1/2 teas of vanilla extract. I also used a smaller pan so I left it in the oven a little longer (maybe about 45 min- 1 hour). It was cooked thoroughly. I can see how it may be an improvement over the overnight oat recipes that are everywhere on social media...tho I haven't ever tried them. Also, this can add some nice variety over a regular bowl of cooked oatmeal. I also give it a plus for being gluten-free while maintaining a nice cake-like texture. I'm hopeful my kids will like them as a healthy-ish mid-afternoon snack to carry them thru after-school sports activities until dinner...Thanks Josh!

I made this recipe a few times now and experimented using casein instead of whey protein. It needs few more minutes (around 5) but if you use the casein it comes out with an even better, more bread like consistency!
@kartiloco992912 күн бұрын
Does it need more liquid when using casein instead of whey though? Because usually casein kinda 'absorbs' more liquid than whey does (for example, 10 grams of whey protein mixed with 10 grams of water will be a completely runny mixture while the same amounts with casein instead of whey will turn into something pudding-like)

i did the strawberries and cream one too, but split the fruit between strawberries and raspberries and basically upgraded the creamcheese to full on cheesecake custard - use a whole package of cream cheese instead of half, add an egg, and up the sugar by a fair bit (i think i used about a half a cup, but i skip the macerating step so that saves me a bit). less healthy to be sure, but not by too much since it gets so spread out. it is ridiculously good. and less waste cuz id never do anything with the other half a pack of cream cheese lol. the raspberries also made it taste amazing, but those little seeds get annoying so next time i might just go strawberries cuz i dont wanna go through the extra step of breaking down the raspberries so i can strain out the seeds

Alright it's time for some quick maths here with peace and love for an awesome recipe that I really enjoyed - just some ideas At ~400kcal this is about a 5th total BMR maintenance for women and 6th for men and is about the size of a palm of a hand and disregarding any accompanying tea/coffee/toppings etc. It is proportionately quite calorically dense, representative by it's high skew toward carbohydrate content. However, there are some things that could remedy that if one were interested. Firstly, skim milk. Secondly, the whey would act as a thickener, you could add more - I've experimented with pancakes and found you could swap as much as 50% of the flour content with whey without sacrificing much texture. Thirdly, macro wise oats and flour are about the same although oats have much better micronutrients but you could pulverize the oats in a blender or half to make it more slice like in texture Fourthly, honey is pretty high in sugar, commercially available low sugar/zero sugar maple syrups would be a good substitute So basically pulverize the oats and skew the recipe away from oats to whey and the kcal content would lower if one were still hungry after something like this. Hope that helps :)

Dates, coffee, and banana would be great. Just use some coffee as a half of the liquid, maybe a third. Another good one would be simple blueberries.
