Good stuff kev. you can keep internet access without messing up whatever local network stuff you are doing by enabling a second NIC in the VM and set it to bridged. then you dont need to constantly change your IP address when you want net access. cheers.

When I go to run report -> shared folders for desktop2 There are no shared folders. it's online, and has the right ip address, and I looked at a few other things, but nothing shows up for shared folders. What helped me was scanning the desktop2.

Hey Kev When I added Desktop2 onto PDQ inventory its not online and the Scan Status says "the network name cannot be found"

That's an issue with your set up. It works for me, I can ping it, I can rdp to it. It has to do with your dns settings

Maybe you need to open up pdq deployment and import the desktop again.

@@KevtechITSupport UPDATE I finally got it to work. For some reason I was not connected to the DNS on my Desktop2. Went to control panel ->Networking and sharing center->Change adapter settings and reconnected to the domain.

Well that's super annoying! the PDQ website wont allow me to download without having to pay $1500, even if I click the free trial button. I'm assuming that this is because iv already started the free trial with PDQ deploy. is there a work around?

reinstall it but you need to pay to use all services. Which is why I use zoom only.

i disabled the firewall on desktop1 and it worked. what i don't understand is how i was still able to ping server2019 from desktop1 if the firewall was enabled on the server2019 computer? can you explain that to me?

I installed it on my server for a reason. You can do it on a desktop but I don't recommend it.
