I used a piece of adhesive velcro to keep the buckle from flopping down between the bag and rack.

Interesting updates! I have an older classic urban roller that doesn't even have the central top buckle, just the left and right side rolltop buckles, so I never ran into the issue with flop down. It's cool how consistent they have kept it, and goes to show the power of good design!

Definitely! These upgrades do seem minor, but it's true, those are the kind of things that are really awesome for improving your quality of life while using the panniers.

Uh, nice update. The lack of an accessible outer pocket for tools or stuff that need to be accessible is one of the few grips I have with the Backroller.

Do you have any idea when these will hit the market? I see they are on Ortlieb's website and I can't wait to get my hands on one! Also your general Ortlieb video has been so helpful, I've referred to it almost a dozen times. Thank you for making such a needed video.

We already have these on order for our 2024 booking but I'm not sure exact dates for widespread availability. These should be available early next year!

Is there any back padding to use the inside sleeve to store a laptop without damaging it?

The organizer pocket is quite minimal- I would suggest at least using a padded sleeve or picking up the commuter insert! Alternately Ortlieb make a large range of more commuter type bags that come with more organizational features and padding www.ucycle.com/ortlieb-commuter-insert-for-panniers.html

So it's a design upgrade for both units yet they still sell the Original. They should just make the og obsolete. All the features on the new one are better with no draw backs.
