Hi hi Sarah!!! It’s me Trish in Vancouver Canada, It’s been a while since I commented.. three things.. one, when you no longer want to wear the cardigan you are wearing, the proper English phrase is, “I am going to take off my cardigan,” or you can say, “I’m taking off my sweater.” Second thing.. the rusty brown DK, is potentially the perfect colour for you to use for colourwork with your gorgeous Rústico dark brown. I do realize the dilemma.. the DK is not the same weight as the Rústico, and you have it planned for the vest, but it would be lovely with the dark brown natural sheep from Spain. I’ve seen that Rústico yarn before, and I’m really very pleased you have it to play with it, no matter what you choose I’m sure it will be lovely. The third thing.. I have to think about it now.. haha.. Oh! Yes! Please yes, I would love to know about your blankets. Especially the lovely white blanket on your bed.. because I have a special interest in that white bed blanket.. As might remember me telling you about my son who is now living in the NL.. well, I asked them and they would be happy to have a crocheted bed blanket, so I am going to make one for them as a wedding gift, and want it to be Scandinavian, and I was hoping to find something that would echo the Netherlands.. and guess what? I found a pattern that is a sampler blanket of 9-inch squares that looks similar to your white bed blanket!! Very similar!! The pattern is by Haakplein.com, and the pattern is Nostalgia, and I got both their 2018 and 2023 versions, I think the 2018 was under 10EUR, and the 2023 I got for free last year because it was for their CAL, but they will soon put it up for sale, similar in a booklet for likely under 10EUR.. it’s fantastic to have so many different squares patterns to choose from, as well as a variety of choices for the connector strips, and different join techniques. What is wonderful about this lovely maker, Haakplein, and their patterns is they are in both Dutch and English and these patterns are supported by videos on YT for each square and all of the special techniques they use. All amazingly well done and a dream for crocheters.. plus, (drumroll..) I got the most gorgeous, untreated, natural, pure white, Turkish cotton yarn through Hobbii when it was on sale in large cones, their 500 8/4, which takes a 2.5mm hook. When checking the gauge it was exactly perfect. I’m in love with it, and since I’m knitting several projects at the same time, I can say the white cotton blanket is nearly 10% complete!!! Hahahaha. Love you, Sarah. All the best to you, your family, your colleagues and your fans! I am always watching you on KZbin, and I look forward to more and more. Of course, as always, you can follow me back at patchesrefit.substack.com Love. ❤️

Hi Sarah I too fell in love with Rebecca’s Lauder design. I haven’t had a lot of experience with cables. I was amazed when you talked about dropping down and fixing a cable. If you ever get a chance to film that I would love to see it!

I think the low contrast colours are a great idea for the Otra Cardi! It will give it a more modern edge. Just like the Festive Yoke Pullover in your previous vlog with the single pattern repeat. It is also brilliant. Huhh, it was my first comment to your vlogs and it did not hurt.

I love the black and brown fair isle- go for it! If the hat is superwash, you can get it wet and put it in the dryer and it will shrink back to the size it was. Just take it out once in a while till it is how you like it.

white becomes "dingy" :) That's the word you are looking for. Wouldn't it be cool if the person who knit the cardigan you bought at a Thrift Store, saw your podcast and contacted you? Can you imagine how happy they would be that you love wearing the sweater they made.

My daughter has also asked for the Arctic Light so I am very interested to follow your progress with this sweater. If your daughter likes the finished project then I will knit it for my daughter. By the way, in English we would say the skein was 'used up', so a bit like the Dutch x

Hi Sarah, it is very easy for white fabric to quickly turn "dingy" looking with wear and time. The other word you meant to say was your knitting "circumstance" which is of course very similar to "circumference. 😄

Great to spend time with you again 🤩 The word I use for pale fabric getting a bit grey is ‘grubby’ 😁 I love the arctic light sweater! I think it looks a bit pulled under the arms which is all that’s stopping me casting it on, so I look forward to seeing how yours fits your lucky daughter 🤞

I was very tempter to apply to test the Lauder vest too but I'm doing 2 tests at the moment, and I would have needed to buy yarn for it, and I'm trying to do a bit of a yarn no-buy this year. I like your idea of low contrast colourwork for something a bit different from normal.

Sarah, your problem with the hat is the superwash yarn, not just the aggressice blocking--it would undoubtedly have grown with wearing. If yarn label says its ok, drying it in your clothes dryer should help regain its snugness again. I always go down a needle size or two when knitting with superwash yarn. The wool "scales" that allow/cause strands to stick together and even felt have been either removed or covered with a kind of plastic to make it superwash and makes it feel more slippery to the hand.

Your Otra samples are lovely. I know you’re set on the brown with black but all that work for hardly seeing seems a shame. The cream seems the stronger colour on the brown, have you thought of switching those around so it’s brown on the cream maybe?

The brown and black is lovely and subtle. I like a lower contrast, myself. Then again, I find an extreme contrast, in a smaller color work pattern very hard on the eyes. There is no place for the eye to rest and it looks “busy.” So, the top part of your swatch didn’t appeal the same way the bottom did. To ME anyway. I’m sure others will disagree, and the lovely thing is to each their own. 😊 I’m sure of one thing, though. Making our own things, to our own tastes, is marvelous!

I have a question. You used a Dutch word for when something is not the clear, true color anymore. When we were sick as children my grandmother would say our eyes looked, “flou”. That’s how it sounds but I don’t know how it is spelled. Your eyes look cloudy and not clear when you are sick. So when you used that word for your off white sweater I sounded like the same word to my ears. Is it th3 same word?
