The track starts with female ululuation, something to signify strong emotions in the middle east, usually at a wedding or a funeral. Such a perfect opening to a song signifying the death of Jesus either as a sorrow of a proclaimation of joy.

Yeah, I kinda took that sound, which is admittedly frightening the first time you hear it, to be the sound of angels rejoicing. You don't really know what you're hearing at first. Then the bells of Heaven chime in.

Javier, so a faith in a flawed Christ is more worthwhile than a perfect redeemer? If Christ was anything less than the unblemished "lamb of God who takes away the sins of the world", then our faith is futile, since we would still be in our sins. A morally compromised Christ is no Christ at all, and certainly not one that is worthy of worship, devotion, or faith. If Christ was no more than a human being, he is not our Saviour or our Lord, and he is unable to deal with the sin problem that pervades all of us. Faith in a purely human messiah is worthless. We might as well give it all up in that case because it offers nothing but another failed Jewish Messiah, who, at best taught a few wise things here and there, but is ultimately of little more significance than Judas the Galilean or any of the other Messianic pretenders. I have to ask you though, if you're really convinced of this, what accounts for the belief in his resurrection to glory and immortality and the belief that he was the Son of God? What brought this belief about in your view, if not the his resurrection?

Peter Gabriel understood the assignment when Martin Scorsese recruited him for the soundtrack. Like basically, "It's the crucifixion but instead of a tragedy it's the victory of life over death. The victory of love over despair, good over evil and humanity over cruelty. Think you can put all that into four minutes and four seconds for me, Pete?"

This piece is astounding in the context of the movie which depicts a more perfect sacrifice. Why do some Christians get upset over the idea that the human part of Christ could be tempted. He was tempted in the desert according to the gospels.

Some artist just have a grip - Human emotion, human spirit, human life. The ear piercing sound and the next notes are such achievement... The sound layers off into a simplicity that is only understood by the ones who search deep inside themselves. It is worth the pain and suffering. Death leads to rebirth. Something beyond the heart and the soul. At some moment in time - You will understand it And when you do Remember it Pass it on And Never Never Never - Let It Go

These last famous words from Jesus-Christ, meaning a lot of things for me like doing the best you can in your life, empathy and hope. It Is Accomplished (Everything is done) "Everything is done" WIKI means: Let us especially observe the last word of Jesus just before he expires: "Everything is done"; this means that the redemption of the world was complete (John 17: 4). There is in these words the feeling of a great victory, for in succumbing the Savior triumphs and his death will be eternal life for millions of souls. The phrase "Everything is done" means that God's decisions about Jesus' suffering are now fulfilled. In that simple sentence, all of the Old Testament prophecies regarding the suffering of the Messiah were fulfilled. “When Jesus had taken the vinegar, he said: Everything is done. And, lowering his head, he gave up the spirit. (John 19:30)

How can we know what went through Christ's head? We were not there. If he was fully human;he was fallable to ALL of humankind's flaws. And why that is offensive? I don't know. Perhaps he DID ask Judas to betray him. One way or another HE orchestrated it; maybe the other four were doing doing a mudslinging job on Judas. Maybe Judas was Christ's best friend and they HATED that! The Gospels FOUR differing accounts of the same events; one of which, has the writer claiming Christ loved HIM best
