'It Makes No Difference' is a genius song. Credit Robbie. But it's Rick Danko who ensured it would live forever in people's hearts.

he commandeered it and claimed manifest destiny! "sorry Robby, gonna be taking this for my own."

Just love the Band.. true ensamble... beautiful moving vocal delivery by Rick, soulful sax solo by Garth, understated percussion by Levon ... just right on all around. I never tire of this song. Love these men and their music
@greu5210 жыл бұрын
Yes, Levon held back his vocals and percussion this time ...probably to let Rick evoke a few memories. Usually Levon was the steadying backgroud vocal to support Rick, but it was good

if ever a song was meant exclusively for one man this is it. such a stirring cut each time out and try as they may no one ever does come close to Danko's. I was fortunate to see them...such truly fine musicians across the board

Eric Clapton stated that he broke away from Cream ( or something to that effect) because he wanted to be in THE BAND. What greater compliment one could ever dream off? The Band.......The greatest musical collaboration of musicians, singers and songwriters.

Truly a heartwrenching song. "These old lover letters I just can't keep Like the gambler said, 'read 'em and weep" Robbie sure knew how to write a powerful song
@genevievegelatto84474 жыл бұрын
Yes indeed. And he still does! God, I love that line. “And the dawn don’t rescue me no more.” No truer words have ever been written to describe that kind of heartache. And thanks to Robbie for writing this song especially for Rick to sing. I’ve watched probably ten different Band and Danko solo performances, and he never sings it exactly the same way twice, I love that. His voice was beginning to get e tiny bit weaker here, but he still looks good, and his vocals are so heartfelt. What really broke me was seeing the condition he was in ten years down the road from here. He was so overweight by then, and seemed to really be struggling to get through the song at times. And in one late performance, shortly before his death he seemed to be just phoning it in. Almost talking through it, and seemed just... tired of it all. I really loved him, and his unusual voice that always came through sounding, not polished at all, but just really TRUTHFUL. When he sang of heartache we believed it. When he sang on Stage Fright, we believed that, too. Gone way too soon. And Richard, too (another real tragedy), and Levon. Man. Can somebody wrap Garth and Robbie in a protective cocoon and keep them safe?!
@patderrick34013 жыл бұрын
@@genevievegelatto8447You re right in all you say. Yes it was a real, cruel , tragedy to see lovely Rik Danko before his death He d ballooned in weight, & you could see plainly he was not a well man. His heart eventually decided enough & just stopped beating whilst Rik was asleep. At least I hope it was that easy ♥️

I love Rick (love, love love Rick)and the song. Have seen about 4-5 different videos of same song. I agree the one in Toyko is the best. The most moving.. The studio version is too sterile. Rick is better when he sings live. His passion comes through better And did I mention that I love him?.Like his wife Elizabeth said "How could you not fall in love with that face?"

opinion is that Robbie made all the money. Truth is he did! But the others partied so hard and abused themselves. Robbie could have told his brothers to save it but he looked out for himself. Too bad they had the world. So much more to do,never will get any more.

Robbie went to Danko etc when they had blown money and were strung out and bought their rights. This according to dead Chicago night club owner of the old Quiet NIGHT. confirmed by ole Levon in a sarcastic remark I dont rightly recall

Danko was found guilty of smuggling heroin into Japan. He told the judge that he had begun using the drug (together with prescription morphine) to fight lifelong pain resulting from his 1968 auto accident. I'm not sure of the year, though. I thought it was in the early 90s.
