This was the most difficult song to write for me. It took several days of tears to get the lyrics where I wanted them. The meaning of the phrase "it never ends" changes with each verse. The first verse is about how the addiction never ends. Even after a near-death experience from overdosing. They were good for over a year and then became addicted to something new. When I first started writing this song it was going to end that way. I imagined a video to go along with the song and pictured someone in a hospital bed and their heartrate monitor would become the tempo of the song and the very last line would say "it never ends. Don't let it end" and the monitor flatlines. That going through my head. I thought that may be the future. But they chose to go to rehab and hopefully the story ends how the song ends. I wanted to create a song with the positive ending I wanted in real-life. That my love and their own strength will get them through. I hope this song reaches whoever it's meant to reach. With the positive energy of the final verses, radiate out into the universe to make the ending the reality. Not just for me and my family, but everyone else who struggles with addiction or know knows someone who struggles with addiction.
