This was Gene Wilder’s favorite movie he made & it is also one of my favorite spoofs movies, so here are some fun facts like: - Marty Feldman who played Igor played a prank where during the shooting he should move his hump from one side to the other for several days when cast members finally noticed, so they added it into the movie - Speaking of pranks on set when Gene Wilder threw the dart Mel Brooks would scream like a cat - The lab machinery is the real deal because Mel Brooks found out Ken Strickfaden who made them for Frankenstein (1931) & its squeals was still alive & that he still had all the equipment in his garage, so Mel Brooks rented the equipment & gave Ken Strickfaden the screen credit which he didn't receive for the original films - Gene Hackman ho played the Blinded Hermit before getting the part was Gene Wilder’s tennis partner who just learned about the movie so he asked if he could have a part in it so he can try comedy, so he he did a quick shoot even ad-libbed the line “I was going to make Espresso - When they were figuring out the "Puttin' on the Ritz" scene no one was sure what the Creature would say, but Peter Boyle who was playing him came up with "Puiinin on da reeez!" - Teri Garr originally auditioned for the role of Elizabeth while Madeline Kahn was going to be Inga that is until she wanted & got the role of Elizabeth, & without figuring who could play Inga so Mel Brooks calls up Teri Garr & asked her if she can do a German accent (she based it on Cher’s wig maker) which got her the part

Fun fact: The original monster, while it technically doesn't have a proper name, it referred to itself as Victor's "Adam" (jokingly/sarcastically referring to Victor Frankenstein's crime of "playing God") So if you wanna stretch it, its name would be *Adam.* *Adam Frankenstein.* Also, don't get it twisted. The monster is more of a victim than anything. Brought to life in an adult's body, a childlike mind unable to fully understand the world around it. Its parent abandoning it and it lashing out at the world to feel in control. Victor is the protagonist, but also the villain; the TRUE monster. He played God and then abandoned his creation, kept quiet about its existence as it murdered people close to him and others took the fall and probably more. Its only at the end that the monster, now much more sentient and even taking on some of Victor's traits like his intelligence, basically tells him off and then throws itself into the ice cold water to *presumably* die. Though imagining that the monster faked its death is a fair headcanon.

Correction: it was actually George Lucas who changed the movie intros forever. Star Wars was the first movie to put the movie credits at the end. Before that, movies were based on the stage. Stage plays have the opening Overture to start the Show. This hadn't people who didn't read the handbill before, had time to read up on who's in the play.

Back in the '90s I saw this at an American film institute showing at the Kennedy center. And I experienced one of the funniest glitches in film ever. The theater wasn't packed, there were maybe 15 couples throughout the theater. And when the film glitched, and the words Abbey Normal got cut out, the best part of the experience was hearing all the people who came with someone else throughout the theater whispering urgently to their friends: Abbey Normal 😂😂😂 Because when you love this movie as much as the people who had brought somebody with them to see it for the first time love it, and you quote it constantly, that moment getting cut feels like a complete punch to the gut. BUT the reaction afterwards made it funny enough to make up for it.😂

1. Mr. Hilltop/Liam Dunn also played the preacher in "Blazing Saddles". 2. I first saw this at a drive-in (that's still here BTW) and there was a lunar eclipse over the screen that made it even cooler than it already was. 3. The studio wanted this in color but Brooks and Wilder insisted black and white because they wanted the old school tone. 4. This movie is Wilder's baby, and he agreed to do "Blazing Saddles" only if Brooks would direct and help write this movie. 5. It was almost impossible to get through the "You take the blonde and I'll take the one in the turban" scene. Everyone kept cracking up. You can see Wider trying not to laugh. 6. Igor's hump changing sides was Feldman's running gag on the cast and it was kept in the movie. 7. Marty Feldman's walleyed orbs were the result of both a hyperactive thyroid and a botched operation after a car accident before his 30th birthday, in 1963. 8. FUN FACT: Igor's "Walk this way" was Steven Tyler's inspiration for hit song of the same name. 9. Wilder also insisted that Brooks NOT be seen on film. However, the screeching cat and the wolf are Mel. 10. Light reflecting off of the monster's missing teeth is not a goof. It's on purpose. 11. Monical over an eye-patch.🤣 12. "Puttin' on the Ritz" will never be the same again.

So I would say that through legality his name ABSOLUTELY is and has always been Frankenstein and I wish people would stop saying that.
