Chronic Pain is All about the Fear. Fear and attention are what keeps the pain persistent. Once we learn the role of fear, it becomes clear what a priority should be. Reduce the fear.

Excellent video again sir, Mathematically it may be said : Pain becomes chronic for a person when he feels there is more danger than safety in his life ,,, he will only come out of this cycle when he believes there is more safety than danger ,,,

These POTS type symptoms have me in tears right now. I forced myself to walk around the block despite the scary fatigue and dizziness. I’m still a little freaked out, but I know the more I do this the better. I was so nervous and freaked out by the symptoms that I had decided I’m staying in bed all day and there’s no way I can hang out with my husband. But now watching your video let’s me know i HAVE to go about my normal as much and often as possible. Thank you Dan.

So good Dan! Thanks as always. As I mentioned to you in the email, I'm starting to be able to do weight / resistence training again with significantly less pain by teaching my brain it's safe to do so. I've lost the "let's see how my back responds if I do this exercise" approach to "I'm loving exercising again, I'm loving moving in a way that makes me feel good again" and saying that out loud during the sessions. It's so powerful to lose the fear and if I get a symptom, so what, as you always say practise indifference. I can literally feel the body respond to indifference now. So so powerful :)

TMS is such a strange opportunity to learn a lot of things which are helpful for life itself. I am also so grateful, to find information about TMS - Far away from esoteric stuff. Thanks as always for your videos Dan. What keeps happening to me over and over again is, I feel like the trend is that I am getting better little by little...but the pain is not gone. One of the things I love to do and have always done in my adult life is exercise. Yesterday I rode my bike down to the beach and back, there are some hills. For the rest of the night and so far today my back has been sore. It appears to me that this is a learned condition, but I don’t know how to not have this be the case. I try all of your suggestions…I never see doctors I only read “ healing back pain” and “unlearn your pain”. I also watch your videos daily. Basically, I live my life. What in the world is it gonna take? Thanks
@PainFreeYou
@PainFreeYou 3 жыл бұрын
Not giving a shit if you hurt after a bike ride. The most powerful thing you can implement is choosing your response to pain when it happens. Indifference. Literally not caring if you hurt or not. Frustration is not indifference. Care less. Try less. My 2 cents.

I usually never drop comments but I’m so appreciative for the videos that you put out and I just want to thank you and let you know that I have gained tremendously from them!! Also I had a question that I’ve been thinking about for a while and I think it’s appropriate to ask it on this video. I was wondering if I just work on being indifferent and reducing the fear of the pain and don’t do the emotional work such as journaling... would that be enough to eliminate the pain/sensations? Thanks again!!
@PainFreeYou
@PainFreeYou 3 жыл бұрын
I believe it takes a set of concepts dialed in just right to get well. For example, if you are practicing indifference, yet still believe your pain is from a physical or body problem, that may not work for you. All the concepts I feel are important are in this video linked below. I do know some people who do not journal and still get better, so it's possible. kzbin.info/www/bejne/aaetmHWkp815qpo

But if fear is an emotion...doesnt that mean we should feel it? Its one emotion I dont want to " feel"
@PainFreeYou

It's fine to feel fear, but we don't want to get stuck in the story as to why we are feeling the fear. Feel the fear. Try not to live in it all day long. Isn't "feeling the emotion of FEAR" counterproductive when it comes to feeling our emotions? If we are working to let go of fear from our lives? Ive lived with fear most of my life..am choosing LOVE instead. That's exactly my doubt, my pain became chronic not due to fear, but rather I just kept pushing and it became repetitive injury, causing central sensitization for a long time , so I am disabled from a decade, any thoughts,
@PainFreeYou
@PainFreeYou 3 жыл бұрын
I'm not talking about your conscious thinking brain that told you to keep on pushing. I'm talking about the subconscious and autonomic nervous system designed to protect you. THAT was seeing danger in you pushing through the pain and that is why it became chronic. Your brain believes you have a physical problem so it will continue the pain. Teach it that your body is already well and perhaps it will let go.

@@cdracos1 No judgment on the pain killers. Sometimes it's a matter of being kind to ourselves. Torturing ourselves is not the way we teach our brains that we are safe. As for the EX - Dealing with her may always be stressful. We don't have to eliminate that to get well. What we are trying to do is TEACH the brain that stress does not need to create pain. Break that connection by using the tools I suggest all the time.
