Never gonna forget 2014 and 2016, peak Ricciardo. Multiple factors screwed him over. 1. Max getting faster and faster 2. Redbull never having a championship contending car 3. Terrible reliability in 2018 which added to his frustrations 4. Redbull switching to unproven Honda for 2019. Yes they were improving a lot with Toro rosso, but still skeptical. 5. Not getting Vettel's Ferrari seat 6. Not getting to grips with cars other then redbull. 7. Being in the weird lul that is early to mid 2010 drivers never really having a chance at a title due to Mercedes dominance between 2014-2020.

2. He could still have beaten his teammate even without WCC car 3. Same reliability for his teammate 4. He wasn't in RB in 2019 5. That wasn't a screw over. Teams just weren't interested in him. May they saw something that DTS fans didn't.

Ricciardo should have left F1 permanently in 2022. He had a good run, multiple wins. But he was never the same driver after leaving Red Bull. The McLaren move then shattered his confidence. Ricciardo should go to IndyCar, or even NASCAR or the WRC. These options (especially IndyCar) are more appealing than seeing him struggle at RB or a backmarker team. He's losing to Yuki, and Red Bull don't think Yuki is good enough for Red Bull...

Ricciardo 2014-2020 was peak. His 2014, 2016 and 2020 seasons were easily top 5 drivers of the season worthy. 2014 was arguably his best. People forget how good he was in the Renault in 2020 and act like he lost it after leaving red bull after 2018. He effectively killed/retired hulkenburg in 2019, and destroyed ocon in 2020. Renault was building up all around him as their no.1, the guy should never have left for McLaren.

Well if not he would be with Alpine rn so that doesn't help. He was trying to get on the current McLaren resurgence ahead of time but he got old and lost it. Would have happened whatever team he was with. He was just no good with the new cars from 2022. I think in his mind Renault was just a placeholder while he secured another top seat.

@@Drakewyrm You don't win 7 F1 races and solidly beat a 4 consecutive times world champion by accident. At Red Bull he was ACTUALLY good. I'm not saying that his decisions were wrong in an absolute sense, but they kicked off a negative spiral of confidence that eventually made him a worse driver. A lot of it might have happened regardless of his team choices. He's definitely not a good driver anymore.

Leaving Red Bull for Renault wasn't a bad move. Despite winning some races he was going to be 2nd driver after Verstappen. He went to a team that was just behind Mercedes, RB amd Ferrari, and the team showed potential in those years. But then it came his move to McLaren and the fall in performance. Then his return to Red Bull as reserve driver was to put pressure to Checo to improve his performance, but it didn't mean that Red Bull had the intention to give a titular seat again. That's why they gave him a seat in their B team and why they are replacing him with Liam.

@@CammyTheSportsEntertainerHe wouldn’t as long as Max is seen as the no.1 driver. Having both Daniel and Max in the team 2019 onwards is not something Redbull wants to manage. RB15 and 16 could end up not fitting his driving style the same way it didn’t fit Gasly and Albon’s. And he would sink in the same fashion he did at McLaren. 2020 doesn’t seem that great a result because R.S.20 is not as good a car as RBs of the time, but imagine he stayed for 2021 with that A521 he could probably have gotten a win without drowning the rest of the year.

We tend to forget how good this guy was. I gotta say, during the Mercedes domination, with the new hybrid era of cars F1 didnt look that exciting to me. But Ricciardo really seemed the real deal both on and off track. It's a shame to see him fade away like this. I believe the max effect was just too much for him, seeing how quick he was at such early stages of his career, and quite obviously, started to be focus point of red bull, which was devastating for him. Whatever happened, he Lost his spark, but for a while, this guy was the real deal. I prefer to remember how great he was and the breathe of fresh air he was for F1 at the time.

I remember when Vettel won his fourth WDC at Brazil in 2013 where he said something to the effect of, "Let's remember this because you never know when it's going to end." I thought, that's it, he's burned out, he's done. It's so hard to continue at that level for that long and I knew he wouldn't be a factor the next year. Then Ricciardo came in and won three races, and that reputation has stuck with him of beating Vettel. That season put him on the map and since then, he's only won five more races. Hardly a world beater and never has been. He was just flattered by Vettel's lack of motivation eleven seasons ago and still rides that reputation.

At the moment this is still the best plan for Red Bull. Their car is so fucked that it would probably be just an unnecessary destabiliser to change a driver. However, the correct move for Red Bull would have been to sack Perez already at the end of last season or even in the middle of 2023, but now the damage is already done and very visible in the constructors' championship.

Your career as an F1 driver is determined not only by your skill but also by your team and heavily by other drivers. He was on the right trajectory from the start, but unfortunately, Max appeared as a younger, hungrier driver who became number one at RB, ending his run there. Then he started to do "200IQ" plays by switching teams, which ended his chances of recovery. Not many things are worse for a driver than being fired mid-season. Hi, career is a worse version of Alonso's one. At least he was able to get WC with all the unlucky stuff.

Daniel will do great in whatever series he decides to go to next, whether that's Nascar which he has touted in the past, maybe even sports cars in WEC or maybe even IndyCar? I'm sure he'll also get a reserve driver role at Red Bull or something for the 2025 season just to keep his presence in the paddock. But there's life outside of F1, some drivers don't often acknowledge that.

Self-inflicted wounds, I'd say. This is what happens when certain athletes choose not to have a top representative until their careers are slowly fading away. Honestly, I don’t have much sympathy for Daniel. He willingly chose to leave that Red Bull seat in 2018 because he didn’t want to challenge himself by going up against Max. He joined Renault, and the writing was on the wall. A season later, he moved to McLaren, only to suffer the same fate he feared at Red Bull. To make matters worse, he ended up taking a seat that didn’t belong to him in the first place. What angers me even more is that Red Bull were do eager to revive his career instead of promoting fresh talent.

What hurts if you are Danny is you are stuck behind arguably the weakest driver on the grid. Maybe Red Bull is just a paid driver team these days, Checo is there based on Slim money and other Mexican funding. As Colapinto has shown a mid fielder in F2 can match it with Albon, really makes you think the difference in drivers is minor, their selection in teams more to do with their ability to bring sponsors dollars and TV ratings. Having enough money to fund your drives all the way to F2 seems more important than actual skill. Mercedes throwing their weight behind a youngster who is similarly mid field in F2, seems to me it is now 1000% the car and about 1% the driver. Even the mighty Max looks like a journeyman in the current RB.

With Max likely to go to Mercedes DR will be retained to be a back up and a big stick against Max & Sergio. There is another rumour emerging that Daniel and Yuki could be the next line up at Red Bull. If DR leaves that will place $140m of sponsorship at jeopardy. Bottom line no Daniel no Red Bull

nope, yuki wouldve outperformed him 2 more times if Yuki didnt have botched strategies, Yuki and Danny both have one blunder thanks to stroll. Dannys highlight was p4 in miami sprint and yuki outscored him the next day by performing better where you get more points. Dannys highs of the season have been 6 or 7/10 drives

Just bad moves on his part. Seriously should’ve left after that 1st McLaren year. His time at Renault was still good & hindsight should’ve stayed. Maybe that team would’ve got better with his input & the confidence he brings to the Renault board. After he left the team slipped in further disarray. I get why he left Redbull. 2018 was very hard to watch with all those DNFs. But yea… after leaving Renault.. bro was cooked. That McLaren run damaged him

@@ClinicalDecisionYikesYT I think you're confusing him for another Driver. Daniel was pretty good till his Mclaren days. Then he sorta became a victim of circumstance.
