For some, Tacoma's Chinese expulsion of 1885 continues to be a source of pain, especially in light of recent reports of hate crimes against Asian Americans. Story: www.king5.com/article/news/co...

I'm a 60 year old white male, graduated from Blaine high school, I do not remember this being taught in Washington State history. So much was left out, deemed too controversial or disturbing maybe? I'm grateful that the truth is coming out, as painful as it is. It's better to KNOW the truth about this white-washed history from Tacoma, Tulsa and the Greenwood Massacre. Rosewood, the Japanese Internment, the Trail of Tears, the horrors of slavery, the Holocaust, etc. If we mean "Never Again", then we must remove hate from our souls. We have to stop denying that there is systemic racism in this country. Exposing it to the light of day is the best disinfectant. Love thy neighbor as thyself God could have made us all the same but chose not to, that must mean something...

1) You not remembering does not mean it wasn’t taught. 2) Even if it wasn’t taught, your opinion [as to why] does not validate reason (as to why) 3) an infinite amount of things have taken place throughout history, class time’s limited & things get missed 4) agree learning [this] history is good, but not if its sole aim is to further an agenda (ask: why now?)... 5) some, if not most, pushback to claims of systematic racism stem from those who ask: “where”, “how”, “when”, and/or “by whom?” 6) reluctance, inability and/or refusal to answer those fundamental questions raises listener suspicion 7) question is not whether black, blue, white, yellow or even ALL lives matter in policy change discussions... what does? Statistics matter. Laws, and policies matters (especially ones catering to the self-proclaimed oppressed). Critical thinking/analysis & capacity to do so matters. The ability to generate solutions (if needed) or to have the balls to stand up & say WTF are you talking about or ask the above W’s...matters. And to this news agency: Good story, poor timing - You’ve had the ability to present this story for how long and just now doing so because why again? 🤔😳🤭 Because it just came to you? By whom? Analyzing that...matters.

It’s pretty obvious why they didn’t teach it.

@JASONCALDWELLTAYLOR Are we or any other ethnic group allowed to settle in mass in China? You're part of the problem.

@JASONCALDWELLTAYLOR Are any other ethnicities allowed to settle in mass in China? No. 1885 is a reaction to Chinese hate.

I never learn about this. What school teaches this?
