IT'S BACK! EXPLORER P0019 COMEBACK

This Explorer was originally in for P0019 diagnosis and then came back with same symptoms.

Yep, no brainer! They were appreciative I decided to open up the filter and didn't tear it down. They traded the customer into another vehicle and this one is going to auction.

Thanks for the great content! Not sure you will see this at this point, but I'll like know: In these situations, on the NA engines is there a known root cause of this failure? Based on the single bank VVT data and misfires I guess its suspected timing components that cause the debris? If so, and this was your personal vehicle, would it even be worth trying to drop the pan and clean everything out the best you can with along with replacing the timing set. I know that would be a lot of work for no guarantee it would survive longer term. Just wondering your opinion. Thanks, Greg

I can't say the cause but suspect megacap or camshaft journal/cap wear. This particular engine would be a ticking time bomb to fix. If one were to attempt a repair then every single camshaft/timing components would need to be disassembled and a thorough inspection done. Since time is money it would probably be cheaper to just replace the engine with one that has a warranty.

@@raincitywrench117 thank you sir. I do remember along the way seeing another vid noting the potential on those cam megacaps for wear. I'm sure your right just asking for trouble trying to get out all the metal. Literarily would have to clean and blow out ever single oil passage. Thx

Not under warranty? Assuming that the engine has no fault like timing not set correctly then it may need the cam/crank correlation factor relearned. Forgot exactly what Ford calls that setting off the top of my head.
