Thank you for quoting St Augustine and telling the St Martin school. In my American house, Bavarian/Triol Advent music is played. During Christmastide, the German Wienachten hymns are played with the American music, except for John Lenno, Bono, Mariah Cari and all the other blah blahs. You are a blessing.

I shifted the celebration when I became Catholic a few years ago, and I love the break after Thanksgiving of quiet and preparation, and I love how everybody’s glum and resolute in January while I’m feasting and leaving my lights up until Feb 2 New Year’s resolutions are for Lent

I agree 100%. Always said the real celebration and happy time should be from Christmas thru Epiphany at a minimum. Hate the idea that on Dec. 26th it's back to work and take down the decor.

OMG! You've got a beautiful bass singing voice too! Thank you for the song at the beginning - more please!

It's okay to sing Christmas songs if you are rehearsing for the Christmas cantata. At my house we celebrate Advent, and Traditional Christmas and Twelfth Night.

The only question remaining ... why so rare and fleeting, these mystical glimpses of our holographic universe? Its like the gods are taunting us.

Is there a specific word for that? Using books as oracles, like my legendary ancestor St. Columba? Biblioclairyovance? And doesn't it hint at ultimate omnipotence?

Simple explanation: Our universe is simply information at its fundamental level, and books are holographic?

It was interesting listening to this as a Christian in the Southern hemisphere. Nothing Spencer said makes sense with a warm & sunny Xmas time. I think Xmas celebration does come from the old pagan light festival on the shortest day, sadly. I do not celebrate Xmas on 25/12 as I believe every Sunday is a celebration of Christ's coming to earth as the Saviour. The whole Xmas thing is a mishmash of paganism & not for me.
