You say that old video of you is bad and people shouldn't do that now, but why not? No one is going to start with having already figured it out. They probably NEED that awkward step so thay they have something to improve on and learn from. I disagree with telling people they need to consider a pitch... i mean, you had the intention back then to verbally journal through vlogging, but that first step got you to where you are today! Every miniscule change and risk taken from that point was integral to where you ended up today. People should come in with an intention for their content, but they dont have to treat it like a business right away! The beginning should be for mistakes and understanding what doesnt work in order to find what does! If one claims that this will only lead to stagnation and laziness with production value and they wont grow, again i disagree. The only time someone truly fails is when they finally quit. Otherwise, everyone who is still trying is doing something right as long as they are willing to try things and improve a little bit each time.

The "as real as it gets" dialogue hits so hard in that old video. I used to say this all the time...just start talking. Don't preface why you're talking or what's to come. Once I passed that barrier (at least in my opinion) I felt much smoother in front of the camera.

Solid advice. Your 1000 sub challenge was an impressive course, and we've already seen results! Think media has been solid advice among all the noise of all the bros who claim to have KZbin advice! On the main channel we run, we applied some of the principles to a more superfluous video we did not long after that (a Christmas vid to wish our viewers a merry Christmas, not a video with as much actual content we normally produce), worked on the finer details, thumbnail in 2mins, title, etc and it took us from 700 or so subs to over 900 today! It is pushing 17k views today, when most of stuff gets 400 or so, rarely 2k views! We've been quiet since because we've been developing workshop content to launch next month, but I'm already keen to see the results now we know what we need to dial in! So much minor detail that's gets unnoticed by us creator, and it equates to lost opportunities! Thanks for the heads up! ❤

Thank you for the information. Very helpful. I get the sense that when people are looking for info, they don't necessarily care how the vid looks. Personally, I've watched some terrible videos on YT, but they had the information I needed. Not that one shouldn't work towards creating better vids, but often people don't care what a vid looks like if it has the info they need. I decided to post a guitar care video that was season specific (low humidity is a concern in winter) and while I didn't get a lot of views I got hundreds of views in a short time. I need to make a plan so that I can follow up on that video! I may have to change the format of my channel though to focus more of students and less on collectors who are more experienced.
