Build a little structure outside for a quiet shop.
@Pterodactyl-kn3veАй бұрын
You don’t interact with a compressor AT the compressor. Put it outside and save valuable inside space. If it has to be inside, put it up on an elevated platform in a corner. Again, you use compressed air at the point of action, not at the compressor.

That '68 Bronco brought back memories. I used to work in the circulation dept of the Gastonia Gazette back then and that is what we drove around to load paper boxes, run down routes, and shortages. I loved that job but I had to leave for military service.
@chipprice1174Ай бұрын
I used to have my compressor inside my shop, takes up needed room, and no matter how quiet, it's not. Sure, a mechanical room will muffle a lot of the sound, but, at the risk of over heating, and yes, still takes up space. My suggestion is for you to build a small lean-to shed outside, off the back wall of your building, pour a small concrete pad, and put your compressor outside, and just plumb it in through the wall. If you visit any tire stores, automotive repair shops, you will find most of them have their compressors outside. I would put it kinda close to the back door, just in-case yo need to get to it quickly. Some shops use galvanized pipe to plumb in the air outlets, some use schedule 40 PVC. I used the PVC, and it's lasted 30 years so far. One thing also to do, is to put a outlet every 10' or so, so you are not having to run air hoses all over the place. At every air outlet, use a "T" with a piece of pipe running below it, with a shut off valve. So any water that is in the pipe will go down, and not collect in your pipe, Dependent on how often you use the air, you can walk around and quickly drain any water that collects in them. Air outlets are like electrical outlets, you won't have too many. When you do plumb them in, I'd run them all around the building including the front. At your most used places, and at a few of your bay doors, put a hose reel so you can use it to pump up tires and so on, without having to pull a vehicle inside.

Great video. Word of advice for someone who went to school for car refinishing aka Car painting, put in extra moister filter where ever you plan on having quick disconnects for air hoses for doing body work and for painting. Also HVLP paint guns love 5/8 diameter air hoses and not the smaller diameter 3/8 air hose used for running general air tools.

THAT's a air compressor! That thing would run a fair size auto body shop Josh. It's safe to say that you will have no shortage of air for your shop. And so, so quiet. I love it. I love the Yota as well. I had an '85 SR5 and an '88, both of them Xtra cab, 4WD with that 22RE motor. Best trucks I ever had and wish I still had them. I kind of became redundant/ retired so couldn't afford it but dang, I wish I could relieve you of it if that's what you decide. Wish you the best brother. PS: I recently had some electrical work done , by a friend who is an electrician, and when I told him I was going to be wiring my garage he told me that I should get the wire from Amazon. He said he gets his there cheaper than he can locally even with contractor prices. I checked around and found significant savings on rolls of Romex. I would likely put the compressor on the back wall towards the middle to be central but you'll sort out what works best for you. On the short term, didn't you have some of those big rubber floor mats like from the farm store? You might consider putting one of them under the pallet to stop vibration until you decide just where it will go.

Where I was working retired now. We had an 8 bay garage, The compressor was located on the end wall in the middle, It was plumed to the ceiling where it branched off in both directions. Then across the top of the doors. In between each door there were drop downs that connected to hose reels. So not matter which door you were at you had air. The compressor would be started at 6 AM and be shut off at 4 PM. There is no sense to run the compressor when not needed. In the 3 to 5 minutes it takes to build the air you could be busy setting up.

Well you wanted comments.. what is your power like there is it 208 , 2:30? The closer you could have it to the panel the better and can your panel handle a breaker that's going to be 50 or 55 amps if so when that thing comes on it's going to be a lot of current and you probably will see your lights dimming unless you get a soft start or variable frequency drive.. in some places you get charged for the maximum power that you draw at any one time from the power company. I hope that's not the case where you're at. I agree with the other fella put it outside because of something goes wrong where you have to get to it and replace it it would be nice to have it out there where it could get fresh air. On the other hand it is out in the cold and moist air at times too so that is up to you. I think I'm doing any of the painting on the cars it will still be the same from what I know and that you have to get set up with a system that is they try to have you buy all of their products and so they specialize for their product line. In the old days there was enamels acrylic enamels and lacquers and then all of the materials to thin and clean and all of that was pretty standard off the shelf stuff. I have heard that TSC and maybe other farm stores have a higher-end line of tractor paint that is very similar to the single stage but very hard and shiny car paint. When you get into doing base coat in clear coat it can be very very expensive by the time you're ending up paying for every little system piece. The big thing is that you will need to have clean air and just a few filters is probably not going to do it right off the compressor you'll have to buy some others and maybe something to cool down the air and get the moisture out of it. If you take time you can build your own for a lot less but it takes fabrication to make up the piping and things you need to cool the air and drain it.. truth is the fella talking about the little HVLP guns. I've used plenty of those little Harbor Freight ones that were a cup on the top and you could paint everything on that little Jeep with a gun that is probably less than $50 they used to be $20 when I was buying them.... I spent way too much on the fancy guns and found unless you were having a thriving business it wasn't worth it. When you do metal flake or metallic paint look for a gun that has a stir in the bottom of the cup so that it will keep it well mixed and your metallic will look uniform when you spray it . I would also go to your paint supply stores and look for mistake paint. You can mix different paints as long as they're the same system and create your own colors but you probably will never match it after that. That would be good for small things to get the hang of it and get good at it. I learned from a Dupont book that they had to tell you how to paint it was about an inch thick with a lot of pictures. My cousin had been a painter all of his life and a very good one and he was trying out before he passed away some of those paint guns that were considered turbine like powered by electricity. Just a thought to look into and maybe do a video on. Take care
