Since gay men don't usually have to worry about impregnating their partners, the idea that a vasectomy makes a man gay is so ridiculous. Also, if a trans woman is planning to have bottom surgery it seems a little redundant to have a vascectomy, so I am not sure where they are going with it being a trans surgery. So apparently to some, it's not just women who are reduced to their ability to have children as their only value, but now men as well. The idea that there is something wrong with wanting to have a healthy sex life with your partner without having any (or any more) kids is so bizarre to me.

I remember reading about research (a long time ago) that female partners of men with micropenis (clinically small) reported MUCH higher rates of sexual satisfaction than men with large penises. The theory was that they knew how to communicate with and please their partner while the guys with big equipment thought that was enough and didn't learn any other skills than just shoving it in.
@BlueTressym Жыл бұрын
I'd agree with that. So often 'big' is conflated with 'good' that boys with big ones grow up into men who think they don't need to make an effort to please their partners because more penis = more pleasure. The owners of smaller ones are more likely to put in the effort to make up for their perceived flaw.

For some it might make the dysphoria worse because it's reminding them they're a guy having a period, but for some I'm sure it'd be less dysphoria inducing than the same products in pointlessly gendered feminine packaging. Personally I'd like period products to do away with the pointlessly gendered packaging altogether, it's bad enough my period reminds me I have a binary physical sex and the ability to have children, I don't need the packaging my pads come in to remind me most people have a static binary gender too.

@@katanah3195 That's a very good point. I love the idea of products that trans people use either not being gendered or being gender affirming for some. That men don’t have pelvis’ thing is how middle schoolers draw human figures the first time. They can pretty much handle head, neck, torso, even shoulders and arms. But below the high hip it just goes LEGS. I can’t count the number of times I say “remember hips exist, how are those legs attached to the rest of the body?” During a basic figure drawing lesson.

On the brain development thing: The reason that moves around is that it depends what part of the brain you pick. Brains are never actually 'fully developed', they're made of lots of different systems that all develop and fall off at different rates. Some bits peak at 20, some bits at 25, some bits at 40, some bits at 7 and some abilities continue improving across the entire unless you get a neurodegenerative condition (or at least they continue up past 90 and we don't have much data from 100+ year olds). The additional problem is that brains are dynamic organs. How you use them greatly influences what they can do and how they do it. So the idea that there's a fixed age that brain bits become finished at is totally off base. If you do maths for ten years at school, then stop doing maths, your brain is going to reallocate resources and your abilities will drop. This can be super granular too. One study I found showed that children were better at maths questions phrased in exam formats, but adults did better if you framed them as shopping calculations (even in that the adults in the test did better if asked the question in a shopping centre). And of course all of this varies wildly person to person and transculturally (as different culturers often have separate expectations for how to approach particular problems which effect what order they develop skills in and how those skills interact. Piagetian Syllogisms don't tend to work in studies many cultures for example, where syllogisms aren't as valued a form of interaction. This doesn't mean 'the brain isn't developed' rather it means that you have to approach 'brain development' as a thing that's culturally shaped, because the brain is a social organ engaged in the culture. And we also have to be aware that a lot of that developmental literature, is actually a smokescreen various white supremacies [this isn't intentional on Piagets part, to my knowledge, but it's definitely been used that way. Piaget just happened to be particularly interested in western logic and so he's vulnerable to a lot of the issues western epistemologists often are. In fact he was just studying children, because they were opportunistic way to study logical structures]). Also I regret to inform you, that no *it* isn't a muscle. The relevant muscles involved in erections are just the cremaster and bulbospongiusus (I have definitely misspelled that). They compress some veins to fill spongy tissue up with blood, and it's that spongey tissue which does the work. Those muscles are pretty small and inside the body, so they probably wouldn't have any impact on appearance. I can't think of a way to exercise them either, other than maybe peeing really hard. This is not a fact I thought I'd ever need to retrieve :|

Fun fact: the peewee is actually spongiform tissue and the "growth" you get from exercise is just the loss of fat in the surrounding tissue as there is always 1 to 2 inches below the "surface", most of which will stay below for stability. The spongiform tissue fills with blood making it hard, but the only muscle muscles are the pelvic muscles around it which is why clenching can make it Twitch but you can't control when it "tenses" like you can actual muscles. @rebeccasatterley1542 Жыл бұрын
@toni2309 Does it help to know that many people don't get orgasms from penetrative vaginal sex alone? Clitoral stimulation is much more likely to achieve orgasm reliably. If you and your partner are wanting penetration and can't get it, I'm really sorry. I'm sure you've tried changing positions and sex furniture, but I still want to plug Liberator for anyone else who's having trouble.

@@rebeccasatterley1542 I'm actually not that far in transition and haven't had any surgeries yet, but I know phalloplasty isn't an option for me. I know I'd feel so much anxiety and dysphoria relief if I could get a hysterectomy. Also not sure why people are so obsessed with legacies. A legacy is in the memories and marks you've made on the world in the living memory of people not in the production of children. Like y'all ain't royalty with lands or political power to bequeath your descendants. Also, all women have different vaginal length/depth, learn something new every day. Some women can be incapable of taking over a certain amount without significant pain, while others can tolerate or like it much better because of the difference in anatomy.
