If it is anywhere near as polished as the new desktop app, then 20 years sounds about right for them to get it up and running.

Defence will simply leave Autodesk behind if they go too hard on Cloud solutions., When Defence leaves it trickles down to suppliers etc.
@Neil3D Жыл бұрын
I guess they'll make a calculated decision with that, basically how much revenue does that sector including the supply chain actually drive into Autodesk, and is that worth making exceptions for that could cost Autodesk millions. If the defence sector is a small fraction of Autodesks revenue, they might just cut ties and be better off for it. My guess is that the heavy big players in defence are likely Dassault major accounts, with Autodesk possibly having a smuttering of licenses throughout, I don't know this for sure though.

@@Neil3D Don't think you realise how large and wide spread the defence sector is. It's every large aircraft manufactuer, a large number of electronics suppliers, ship building, etc.

Operations here refers to after construction is complete and the building is turned over to the end user. Think - Digital twins to monitor/run HVAC systems, adapt/modify assembly line layouts, or track guest traffic throughout a theme park.

I'm intrigued... but have no idea on what the FORMA is going to be. Very likely a re-skin/rename of some of the existing tools within the ACC toolset.

I covered as much as I know of it in that linked video, but right now they are (fusion, forma & flow) just concepts presented to the public. Autodesk internally are full steam ahead on them though and will know a lot more than they're outwardly presenting.

Ive heard AECO for a while. Believe some people say O is owners vs ops, but same idea either way i guess. If forma is spacemaker initially it will initially bomb. Calling it now. Architects already use Rhino aplenty and I can't see Spacemaker being a seamless enough process to encourage them away. Spacemaker targets developers and the only 'client' they tend to be interested in working on is a rich one. Dark mode in revit turned out to be half arsed. Primary UI goes dark only, all nested menus/windows are still light until they update it further. UX sins.

Thanks for those insights! Yea same with Inventor dark mode 3-4 years after it first surfaced, a lot of the nested dialog boxes are still retina burning white flashes

This is all fine and dandy but what happens when autodesk servers eventually gets hacked and a lot of data from big corporations get leaked. It seems to me autodesk is digging there own grave by making a legal case against them. I can't belive this will last for long unless they offset the whole responsibility of server maintenance on the client.
@Neil3D Жыл бұрын
My guess is... Autodesk will outsource data hosting to someone like Amazon or Microsoft, they already heavily rely on AWS for the majority if not all of the Fusion 360 services so that's probably their way out of any legal issues. Venturing into teritory where I'm not an expert on though so if AWS was hacked, I have no idea whether Autodesk can be held legally liable for the fallout. Very interested to know though!
@masha_kasha5061 Жыл бұрын
@Tech3D now that you mentioned it aws might have a stipulations that they are not held accountable for user data for 3rd party clients. I can bet you autodesk might slip in non liability in their end user agreement just to cover their side. This is where the legalese comes in, and the engineering part ends, so I kinda have no clue what might happen. I still kinda hope someone hacks one of those servers just to satisfy my morbid curiosity. 😅

@@Neil3D AWS.... that is not a good thing.... They're not fnow for data security and keeping data private. Yes Autocad absolutely will and should be held accountable.

It's a deep and complicated discussion, one that I've talked about a few times on the channel but the landscape changes as time goes on. Personally I don't think Fusion 360 is trash, it's just not as competent as Inventor for clients who need what Inventor offers, for those who don't need the majority of what Inventor excels at, Fusion 360 is pretty damn capable. So it's all relative I guess...
