I love so much! I was way more crunchy when my lids were small. Cloth diapering, extended nursing, family bed, dying clothes outside, recycling, home schooling the Waldorf way, . The cool thing was, 40 years ago we were a rare bunch. Your crunchy parody hits all my funny bones!

My granddad's old trick (not crunchy at all) always worked. Just get an old bottle of water and poke a hole on the cap. Fill it with water and stick it upside down in the pot making sure the cap is under the soil. The water will drip down slowly keeping the plant hydrated. We used this trick many of times when we would travel abroad and our plants never died.

My special song with my kiddo has always been " deep in the heart of Texas" I took out the clapping part between the verses. We sing it a little slower so it's like a lullaby instead. It's our special song and I think it'll be funny to hear it be talked about one day when my kiddo grows up. " Yeah my mom was super Texan, she used to sing my deep in the heart of Texas when I was sad or sick" 😂 i hope it means as much to my kid when they are bigger.

I wrote a song for my daughter when she was a baby to the tune of “Twinkle Twinkle Little Star”. She’s 11 and still requests it. But it’s for sure not one she’ll use walking down the aisle either! (And I never did write a song for my son… 😬)

I had a whole playlist of Beatles songs to listen to while birthing my children. I had visions of pushing my babies into the world to "Here Comes The Sun". Unfortunately, they both had other plans, I simply would not go into labour, my cervix refused to open. So C-sections for both. But I liked to play the songs to them when they were little, and they still enjoy them. Any songs I sang though were made up songs to popular music (She's a Baby instead of She's a Lady was a favorite 😊)

I sing "Angels Watching Over Me," or "You Are My Sunshine." My grandpa sang that to my grandma when she died. I did have to change the lyrics "When I awoke, dear I was mistaken, and so I hung my head and I cried" because it made my son sad! My youngest daughter usually requests "Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star."

October winds. But I’m a dad…so, I did it every night for the first 10 years…now I’m trying to figure out when the perfect time to do it again is….plus, I try and have them learn instruments so they can do it themselves! I’m a mix, and I have a French name and live in largely an area of German heritage, but my great grandmother on one side was half German and half Irish (unlike grandpa that was half German half Norwegian (but full blooded both)…. And, what… oh ya, but culturally I sorta identify with the Irish side. Their songs are so human! And , well…that’s where we start. Right?
