Thanks for posting this. 3.0 tennis is not easy. Be a good self-coach. Don't get down on yourself, build yourself up.

Great, honest post. Everyone starts somewhere and a great majority of us probably has gone through similar matches (I know I have). You have a lot of time and room to improve! Don't stop

Don't quit tennis man. Keep up the good work, I can see the passion. Consistency will come with time. One thing to work on is footwork. When you do a split step don't think of it as a jump up and down. It's more to stay light on your feet and when you come down, you'll want to always be pushing off of one foot to get into position faster with that first step instead of just a jump up and landing down stationary.

Much respect 🫡 not quitting ever and I’ll work on the split step!

Try bending your knees and using your legs and hit the ball with topspin, you are caught between hitting flat or topspin in a mil-second, you have to make that decision sooner, if you bend your legs and hit from low to high your accuracy will increase a lot my friend. I had the same problem until I consciously told bend your stupid knees Shaun, I know exactly what I do wrong after the fact, and I fix the problem as I play and it been working my friend. It’s okay to get mad at yourself, but isn’t okay to keep making the same mistakes over and over again and that’s what really pisses players off! You are a solid player who needs a good hitting partner to work out with. You are a good player and you deserve to complement yourself for trying hard and not quitting on the court my dude!

I have a lot of friends who played low D3 college. They have a hard time against some 4.0 tennis because they hit balls with zero pace zero spin and they dont know how to deal with it. They are just used to hitting against heavy spins but not against Oldman tennis. My advice is not to underestimate opponent's technique and try to adjust your playstyle to deal with their balls. Keep it up and beat up these old dudes haha!

thanks for sharing. I'd really focus on your footwork and prepping early. Serve is solid though. Keep it up!

How do you practice? Who do you practice with? To get better is to not play against players like that. You want to play against players who are better and who will expose your weaknesses and offer good advice on what to do. I dont think that guy was better than you, you just made wayy more errors than he did. Work on your technique and overcome him Really good self reflection here. I feel the way you do here but in mixed doubles. I love singles but I hate doubles since Im not great at volleys and I get exposed but im practicing my volleys alot. My motivation for improvement comes from losing. So for your next match you may want to work on your groundstrokes most of all. Try to not make errors in your practice and that will translate to your matches. Practice makes progress! Good luck

Well, you both look like 3.0. But the guy with the cap is almost 2.5.

You need to respect how hard a short ball is to hit. It's a hard shot. And if you don't practice it, you won't be able to consistently have enough topspin to bring it down. Plus you can't wollop those balls

I know why Longshanks is playing like garbage. It's because he's not wearing his glasses. He's basically trying to handicap himself so the other players don't feel bad about losing to him. He probably can't see anything that's why all the balls are going everywhere and that's why it looks like he's missing every shot.

Your need to use your hips to generate power and accuracy. Notice that every time you hit a nice forehand you actually use your hips. Then you will have so much more fun.

@@trashbintennis5550 No problem, I am returning to tenis after 20 years haha. I competed as a kid a lot. BTW using your body weight is the main reason why women can't hit so hard as men. When you look at all these guys in the ATP they are all muscular mesomorphs who can put a lot of weight into their shots. That is the reason why you wont find any ectomorphs at high level of the competition. I had a friend in our club who was top 5 tennis player in the country as a junior but he was a small ectomorph. Once he competed with adults he got totally destroyed.

1) In your last vid I made a passing remark on your possible lack of night vision. Although you did win the second set your performance in the tie breaker hints that there’s a possibility that it might actually be a real problem. There could be a pattern developing. 2) No brainer strategy. Hit to his backhand 90% of the time (not going for screaming winners) and expect the short return and you win easily. 3) Even against someone who hits softly this random use of a Split Step is inexcusable. Frankly I think even the split steps you do execute are you just coincidentally bouncing on your feet. Remember a Split Step is both a physical and a mental action. So if you’re not executing a it means something mentally is missing and that’s a problem. Is there a sport or physical skill in which you are considered advanced? Sincerely, I ask so we can understand you better.
@trashbintennis55505 ай бұрын
Honestly no, tennis is what I’m most advanced at by far 😂. You have accurately observed my split stepping practice…

@@trashbintennis5550 any skill even outside of sport. Are you a good dancer, singer, juggler, cook, martial arts, watch maker? There has to be a physical skill that you have developed that not everyone naturally possesses. The reason I harp on this is because learning any physical skill follows a general pattern. Needed skills are broken down to simple easy to learn components and these simple skills once mastered form the foundation for more learning which leads to more and more advanced skills. This is true of non sports skills too. And granted not having a sports background puts you at a disadvantage it doesn’t mean you can’t be a good tennis player. There must be a skill in your life that you had to put some thought and practice into in order to get better at it. If you can relate that experience to learning tennis it might help you. * One disadvantage that someone learning tennis today has that wasn’t as prevalent in my day is the insane emphasis on “TOPSPIN!!TOPSPIN!! POWER! POWER! POWER! FOREHAND! FOREHAND! FOREHAND!! You drink that Kool-aide and it makes it a much harder sport to play well. Rec players all strive to hit the ball harder but the second they’re put on the defensive they suck big time because so little time is put towards learning defensive skills. Cutting down on unforced errors is still far more valuable than increasing the rpm on your topspin forehand. You have to come to grips that your not a pro player. And even at the pro level only a small percentage of matches are won where more winners are hit than errors. So rec players today are being sold on a idea that even top pros can’t pull off the majority of the time. There’s a old saying that goes “Tennis is a game of emergencies”. This is still true today. If you really watch carefully when pros are playing a match they hit emergency shots all the time. It’s just that they are so good at it and so smooth at it that the uneducated eye doesn’t even realize it was actually a response to a emergency situation. In fact if they didn’t possess great defensive skills the wouldn’t be pros. Nobody plays offensive 100% of the time.
