Why when the daughter can translate just fine? I'm sure if it was just the mother there alone, or someone that doesn't speak english, they would hire an interpreter, but when there is someone already there that can speak both languages, and especially that the patient trusts, when discussing surgery and such, there is no need. @@tommygirl6659 This is a medical setting, you could be fluent in two languages but if you're not trained to interpret medical situations you could easily lack of terms and not deliver an accurate translation. What about if it were something pretty serious and the bilingual person didn't know how to say that? That misunderstanding could end up bad.

It’s nice to see someone not take offence to being recommended to lose a little more weight before a procedure is needed to be done. I have seen many people (close to me) get extremely offended in similar situations and even much more serious ones! I was in this position myself 2 years ago with an old spinal injury, I was told to lose a significant amount of weight or they would need to fuse my spine! I lost 80lbs and things are so much better, not just my spine but I feel better about myself mentally and physically! I never would’ve thought I could do it!
