What I have today to share with you all is a 1 person tent from the company known as NatureHike. As far as the company goes, while not every product I have test has been a raging success the majority of their products are very good especially when you consider the prices. Very high value and good quality go hand in hand here 99% of the time.
The focus of this video is the NatureHike Camping and Cycling tent which is a lightweight, 1 person tent that runs less than a $100 at most stores.

NatureHike 1 Person Tent Details :
Versions : One tent has a snow skirt and the other doesn’t. This is the 1 Person Cycling Backpacking tent but on Amazon you will see that there are separate listings for this tent, one says it is a Camping Backpacking tent, the other says it’s a bicycling tent. They are the same tent.
Colors : Green, Red, Blue, Navy Blue, and Orange
Dimensions :
Setup : 80.7”(L) x 37.4”(W) x 43.3”(H)
Packed : 15.7” x 5.9”
Materials : The fly materials do vary on this tent depending on the color that you choose;
Rainfly:
20D nylon, silicon coated(PU 4000mm)
210T nylon(PU 3000mm) with excellent UV resistance(UPF 30+);
Inner tent: 210T rip-stop polyester+B3 breathable mesh+150D rip-stop oxford
7001 aluminum poles
Aluminum stakes
The Green, Navy Blue, and Orange Flies are made using the 20D nylon.
The Red and regular blue are made from the 210T Nylon.
Which would you select?
It depends, the 20D Nylon is going to be more waterproof but slightly weaker. The 210T is the strongest and will handle more wind, more sun, and the technically more snow.
Speaking of which, NH claims this is a 4 season tent and that isn’t true at all. You can use it in the winter, you can use it in some snow but this isn’t really a 4th season tent.
Weight :
- 3.63lbs with 20D version
3.85lbs with skirt version
3.96lbs with 210T version
Price : Retail is $115 but you can find these on sale on Amazon and NH’s web site for $80 - $100 depending on color.

I have this tent and I have camped out in -14°C with it. I added shock cord to the tie down points, and I added tie down lines to the rain fly to pull it away from the mesh . I gave it a good spray, silicone water repellent as a precautionary method., I also painted the grommets and pole tips for the foot box, end of the tent to speed up, set up. The main reason I don't mind using this in the winter is because in winter or adverse weather conditions, I prefer to set my tent up under a tarp . The other modifications I use for winter time as I put a mylar emergency blanket over the mesh under the rain fly to reflect heat back down and that's where the size of the tent helps. Keep your extra warm in the winter. . Plus I jettisoned the tent pegs for better pegs. Last thing to note, I picked up this tent for 10 bucks Canadian at an Amazon returned items outlet . I'm 5'6 and have no problem camping in it with my German shepherd.

Hell yeah.. its my tent for almost 1.5 year.. i bought it for $77 here in indonesia,, for me its a good tent if we see the price, but if youre in indonesia and go hiking, the major problem is the low bathtub, because here in indonesia the wind so strong,, so if you had this tent for hiking the solution is you have a good insulation for bed and a good sleeping bag..

the habit of Indonesians always relying on tents to keep their bodies warm, even though actually tents are for shelter and to warm their bodies they have to use a sleeping bag and a good mattress.

This was my first backpacking tent. If you tie some of the guy rope that is included with the tent to the door and back of the tent and guy it out from those points it will also pitch much better and pull the sides tight and it won't droop onto the tent like in the video. The door flap is probably just wrinkled from it being packed and shipped if you lay it out and lay some books on it for you a few days it should flatten out and cover the zipper better. Haven't had the tent in any rain but did camping it in about 35° weather and it does have good ventilation.

Needless to say, it met expectations before I graduated to a different setup but I have it as backup gear. I've used this tent as a low budget light weight option for the last 3 years. I've found it suits me just fine with the improvements you described. Bought it on sale and I sewed my own side pull tabs and added shock cords. Totally agree it's no where close to 4 season as it can't support snow fall well at all. The tent red compression strap buckle you showed after taking the fly and body out of the bag broke on me day one but I just removed the buckle and used it as a string instead. One thing I have not stress tested as much is rain as I typically setup my poncho tarp over the tent. For the rain that got past the poncho tarp I have not had any issues.

I've watched Naturehike since they first popped up on the market, about the time I first started watching you. Their prices have gone up from even 5 years ago, but they seem to be good quality for a reasonable price. Haven't tried any tents yet but watch to see which models I like (I kinda like the looks and space of their Tagar tent). Hope to get a tent finally by this summer and start camping/backpacking.

I have this in the 210 T in purple. You have to stake it out to fix the side walls for sure but I loved it. Has survived about 18 backpacking trips in the high Sierra's in rain and hail storms. Woke up in a river one time, inside was perfectly dry. Also love that you can set up the fly first so the tent doesn't get wet in the rain. Great beginner tent. Only reason I'm switching is for something lighter.

Good review. I’ve had mine for a few years & it’s great. All the complaints are easily remedied. Silicone spray it, add some shock cord, sew a couple of tabs to the sides of the outside fly… you’re still around $100. Don’t forget, the ground sheet is included which costs $30-$50 on some tents.

WOW. This tent impresses me. Below $100 and great Quality! The large amount if mesh really excites me because it would do well in a hotter climate like Arizona. I could also use the mesh part if tent to keep the bugs out and use a tarp for whether and keeping cooler. A lot of possibilities. Thank you for showing this to me

I like this tent, I had it for 6 months and I think is good budget option. I got mine at the higher side of the price but I don't complain due to the quality. I mostly used it on warm weather (semi desertic in central Mexico) I do agree on the missing guy lines at the sides (head- foot) it could be better, however I can confirm I had a good sleep, no condensation and not warm inside (sleep until 10 am and was cool enough. the storm flap in mine is flat, I agree with another comment that maybe just needs to be set up for some time to straighten itself. Speaking of setup: For those who mention some miss alignment and tension, is my believe the spider pole is not symmetrical, same with the tent and rainfly, if you don't pay attention to that aspect it might lead to the problems you mention, I say this because after many uses I came to realize the foot side (left side seeing the entrance like in Luke´s video is lower than the head side (right side on video), if you pay care to this aspect I think it works better (I could be wrong) Size: I think is great, but don't expect too much room inside; you can maneuver but is going to be tight. i used it with an sleeping pad and my sleeping bag and again no problems with cold (5° C at night) I think in the video the packed size looks larger than it is. at least mine looks shorter than in the video Shock cord for guy line is a good idea, hadn't modify mine. I have no experience with rain and even less with snow. I actually got it for the tons of mesh, if it gets to warm I can remove the fly and set up a tarp. waiting for rain season to test weatherproof (for sure Luke will get it sooner than me XD )

Unlike that "motorcycle" tent, this looks almost ideal for a bike trip. I had the same impressions as you did, on this one. I think a couple lightweight tarp clamps for the ends, and a little cordage for the sides and ends, would improve most of the issues, without having to modify it.

I love this tent . I use it for snowshoeing, hiking backpacking, kayaking, canoeing, motorcycling, just about anytime it's gonna be just me or me and my dog. And I always bring a tarp . On the motorcycle, I pack my travel, motorcycle cover, and the tarp and this tent, and I have frequently stealth camp on the motorcycle by running a ridge line, parking the motorcycle under the ridge line with the cover on the motorcycle, and then I stake out the tarp with this tent Under the tarp facing the motorcycle, so the motorcycle blocks the wind, the tarp gives me shade and protection from the elements and the tent just becomes a convenient place to sleep at store my stuff. I used a soldering iron to burn two tiny holes in the rain fly small pieces of gorilla tape for reinforcement and ran some shock cord through that to make guidelines to pull the rain fly off the mash each and

Some tarp clips to pull out the rain fly, a more rigid piece of plastic glued to the Vent support, and some light ironing on the zipper flap and you have a really good budget friendly tent. I agree if NatureHike fixed those few items and figured out how to make it just a bit lighter that would be a show stopper tent.

I got one of these for my son for scout trips. Adding shock cord to the vestibule and rear tie-outs and also to the middle on the short sides (as Don Barnard mentions) makes this a very good tent for 3-season use. The quality (at least on the one he got) is surprisingly good, especially for the price. Also, if you ditch some of the packaging (compression strap and bags for the tent, pole and ground sheet - none of which you need if you pack it inside your backpack), you can get it to under 3 pounds.

I recently bought the green version. I spent a week in some very changeable Scottish weather. That included an exposed pitch in 30 - 40mph winds and horizontal rain. Before I left I added two tarp clips to the ends of the fly so I could pull them away from the mesh and stake them. This worked very well. I pitched short side into wind. I was surprised how well the tent performed in the high winds. If the wind direction had changed who knows ? There was no water ingress in the rain, again very impressive, even in the tent corners. Plenty room inside for me, 5'10"", and my gear. The vestibule took my rucksack and boots to one side and my cook system to the other. I was able to safely use my stove with the door zipped closed. This still gave me enough room for my jet boil style setup on a small gas canister. On the down side the tent bag, although well designed and super light, is very flimsy. I managed to rip the material away from the webbed handles - don't know how. A patch job should fix it though. The pros of this tent far out way the cons. It's easy to stow back in it's bag, even in high winds. It's very compact. It's light. It's a simple pitch and it's versatile, can be pitched inner or fly only and it doesn't cost a fortune.

try out the alps mountaineering tents I have been using the camp creek 4 since late 2016 when it first came out. It is by far the best tent I have ever owned. I go camping often and this tent has survived weeks of heavy rain, strong winds , it even flooded in my camp and I stayed dry. I have been using it for 7 years now at least 15 or 20 times a year and it is still as good as the day I got it. it's stained from a 1 month camping trip but I know that it will always do the job. if people are looking for a tent that is cheap but built to last the alps mountaineering camp creek 4 is the best. I watch your videos a lot just to see if anything else is out there but nothing has made me want to retire my tent yet.

Great overview as always Luke. Naturehike ground sheets are just soooo heavy. I prefer to just swap it out for a piece of polycro plus I feel not putting the poles in the ground sheet grommets the fly fits a little more snug - it's almost like their ground sheet is about an inch or so too short. I added a short length of guy line to the side pull outs to get a better angle on them. For comparison, the pole for this is very similar to that of their Cloud Up series and these tent pegs look heavier/cheaper than the ones that come with the Cloud Up. Overall I think the design of the Cloud Up series is better than this model.

I have their Mongar 2 and use it on really harsh conditions, can't complain (even though i had to make some mods to be able to syat warm and dry with our strong winds, all mesh inner is awesome if you don't have heavy winds as "normal" but with these winds there is a need for a higher bottom cover, just added a 30 cm high strip of fabric all around, the tent became really comfortable and no more rain splash inside). The Tegimen hammock tent got me really really interested. As far as cycling tents... they all have the same issue, from the cheapest to the priciest: no room to store (at least) your backpack inside.

Reminds of my Naturehike Cloud-Up but opening from what is the side on the Cloud-up. While interesting, I think the Cloud-Up is the better model. Same over all shape but all sides guy out.

Yeah I dont really get this tent. it weighs almost as much as a cloud up 2 and more than a cloudup 1. It doesnt seem as nice as either of those and I would rather have a side entrance but not this one.

I've enjoyed reading the comments as much as your video. I wonder how long B4 the Chinese copy the pop-up pull system. It's the way all pop-up tents should pop-up.

Consider (hear me out) getting thin rubber balloons and blow them up and put them between the tent wall and the fly when the fly is draping onto the body of the tent. Shorve the balloons up high enough that they are stuck. Just a thought.

Naturehike Cloud Peak 2 - One of the best tents ever made. Copy of the Hilleberg Allak. Just brilliant as an all rounder and perfect for the first time hiker who will want a decent tent at a decent price for almost all conditions.

I have the mongar2 and it is a fantastic tent. Great ventilation and very waterproof. I was debating on the cloud peak 2 or the mongar2 . I think either way it would have been just fine for me, but I decided on the mongar2 and have zero complaints. I heard nothing but great things about both.

@@djschultz1502 i have both the cloud peak 2 and mongar 2. I used mongar whenever we are camping on lower altitude or if its not windy. If its raining and super windy and cold i bring the cloud peak.

This may not be significant to people in North America and Europe, but Nature Hike is very popular in Central America due to its inexpensive price. Hearing good and authentic words about their products is encouraging. I do admit I do not trust that stormflap over the entrance zipper.

Naturehike has the cloud up 1 person tent. I wish they would just combine the good things between these 2 tents and they'll probably have a great selling budget tent! Cloud up 1 person tent with it's adjustable stake out points but has the door at the side for wider opening, instead on end of the tent

It does look like a very good option for people on the budget. With the minor issues they can easily be corrected by the owner by adding guy lines and clip attachment for the sides to allow a guy line to be attached. I know we are looking at what the tent has to offer, however with the price being very friendly towards consumers and the material being really great for that price range then it shouldn't be a huge issue on getting the extra stuff for it. I do wonder how the water test will hold. Can't help that they cut something out from the production line to keep the price that low.

Hello from Ireland, love all your videos on camping gear, I do alot of family camping and scout camping, i still do not understand these tents that you put a fly sheet on last, when it is raining the inside of the tent will get wet when you are putting the tent up. Surely the tent you put up with the inner already in them are way easier and quicker to put up. I would not buy these tents for my Scout Troop, am i missing something here? :) Thank You

I've heard from peeps that one of the hooks on the right side makes the fly sit to close to the mesh, making it kinda get wet when it's windy and it rains. They say just unhooking this specific hook solves that problem.
