And it is not staged no matter what the naysayers might say. The Chinese have learned to understand the importance of fun and levity in training. They have come along way from the stern training measures of the 70' and 80's, and before that obviously.

Sierra 2002 Agreed. My dad was adopted 💞 and I'm 32, no kids but married & someday want to adopt a young girl & save her from a bad situation, like my dad was. I know for my dad it was financial plus his biological mom was very young and not capable of caring for a baby.

I love these types of vignettes. It does let us see the true personality of the athletes. I especially like the Chinese clips because it breaks the western stereotypes of the super serious and tough coach and training regiments. I have known Chinese coaches and athletes and they have changed their methods to incorporate fun into the training.

Samantha Dicriscio very possible. Even if shes not the second child, she might be given up just because she’s a girl, just so the parents could have another chance to have a boy instead. Boys are more favourable in China

Are you suggesting that these 4 would make up the US 4-person olympic team? If you aren't then sorry, I misinterpreted your comment but if so, this actually isn't possible as Jade is (almost) guaranteed an individual spot by competing in event world cups and thus cannot be a member of the 4-person team. It also would be quite risky to have any athlete on the 4-person team not be competing as a (strong) all-arounder as all 4 athletes compete on every event in qualifications. Hope that made sense :/
